Small, friendly coffee shop, with another branch off Guildhall square. Old Town has a slightly less extensive menu, but still sells excellent coffee and pastries. Friendly and helpful staff. The menu at old town is light bites - bacon sandwiches are 👌🏻, as is everything else. Plenty of comfy seating too, and some outdoor seating if you don't mind fighting off the polar bears who roam the streets around this time of year. Also, because it's further away from the uni, you get less people with elaborate facial hair hogging an entire table to themselves and their Apple products 👌🏻. Well worth changing from Costa to Mettricks for your cup of morning joe.

I'm a big support of Mettricks, though until their Bargate location recently closed I had neglected the Old Town location. Various Union Roast coffees are on the menu, and I especially like their Rwandan single origin. Great spot to find an old leather sofa and just relax.

I deeply enjoy every visit. The quality of their coffee and food is amazing and the people working there extremely nice and pleasant.

This is the 3rd or 4th time I have had a terrible takeaway sandwich from mettricks old town, even had to take them back twice, which is a pain when you go there on your tea break. The picture cost me something like £4.60 for an abysmal cold and burnt bacon bap, over £14 for two coffees and 2 of these baps. The other mettricks in town seem to be fine but the old town one is consistently awful.
