We ordered at 7pm and was told the food would arrive at 8:20 which was a little longer than we hoped for but not the end of the world. Food eventually arrived at 8:50 without our fried rice. Rang them back and was told it would be 20mins or I could have a refund. Took the refund and ate the rest of our order and it was very enjoyable. Shame about the delivery time and missing rice.
Total grease-fest...the beef & black bean dish was a congealed mess, and honestly the worst version of it I've ever tasted. The chicken chow mein noodles were swimming in pools of oil, and tasted like it was reheated from the day before. The fried rice was way overcooked, and was crunchy - and to twist the knife, it wasn't cheap either. It seems as if this place exists to cater for the Lady's Mile Holiday campers, and I genuinely cannot think of anything good about the food served at this place, I would wholeheartedly NOT recommend ordering from here!
1 star is generous in my opinion. And the only reason I cam give 1 star is because the person that served me was polite and friendly. The food on the other hand was awful. Chicken chow mein was SWIMMING in soy sauce, king prawns in batter were soggy, satay sauce was just like a spicy gravy with a hint of peanut flavouring. Special fried rice had slices of chicken on top in gravy. The chicken slices were like cardboard. So dry and tough. Pancake roll, and rice was flavourless. Overall the meal was way over priced and not very nice at all. 100% will not be returning, and will definitely not be recommending.
Have used Mei Lai quite a few times. The food was very nice but sadly the last few months and few times i have ordered, it is swimming in soya Sauce & salty. It is not fresh, full of flavour or clean taste. Just takes of too much soya sauce. The dishes i order I believe the original chefs have been swapped for new team. The team are very friendly, polite and hard working especially all the girls who take the orders are non stop! Shame the quality of the food is not to my liking anymore. Need to bring back the original chefs.
Used to order from here a lot and it was good tbf..... But the last order I made took over an hour to come and was stone cold, so rang up and they replaced, which only took 15 mins to get to us and was hot, but it was burnt!! Black as ur hat and even opening it it stank burnt!! Did like these before but I will not be ordering from them again..... Not very polite on the phone and the food is vile!! My dog even turned its nose up at it!!
I wouldn't ordinarily leave reviews, but the take away I had on Thursday 17th Nov, has propelled me to do so. I've been having take aways from here since 2013, and I must say the quality has reduced over those years, so much that the latest meal was almost enedable, it was so thick and gloopy, I may as well have been eating wallpaper paste. I've give 2 stars because it arrived early, but unfortunately won't be going back.
Been using Mei Lai for 10 years now but unfortunately it seems the food has gone down hill recently. Had a takeaway a couple of weeks ago and it was not good. The food was greasy, the spring rolls were dry and smelt off. Most of the food ended up in the bin. Sorry but won't be back unless there's a massive change
Absolutely lovely food every time, friendly service and fresh ingredients. It’s 5 stars from me and we will be back!
Have enjoyed food from here on multiple occasions but yesterday had the Worst Meal Ever...literally uneatable...the special chop suey, the ribs in bbq sauce and the special fried rice. Rang to inform them and they would not accept what I was reporting. Will never go back or recommend here again.
Been to Dawlish on holiday over the last 7yrs,. Have Always used this Chinese, but this year, we had chicken chow mien, which was swimming in soy sauce, and chicken balls which were burnt. Really we should've taken it back, but after a long day out all day, very disappointed,
