About

This is the official Facebook page of Medway NHS Foundation Trust.

Story

Medway Maritime Hospital treats around 400,000 patients each year mainly in Medway and Swale, but increasingly other parts of North and West Kent too. Everyday we see around 1,400 outpatients, about 250 patients use our emergency department and approximately 150 patients need to be admitted for hospital care and treatment.

The range of specialist services we offer have grown over recent years, as have the communities we serve, bringing to Medway services which in the past, patients have had to travel miles for. This includes the cardiac catheter suite, West Kent Vascular Centre, West Kent Centre for Urology, a dedicated stroke unit and the Macmillan Cancer Care Unit.

I came to the Maternity unit today with my daughter, Ebony who is 24 weeks pregnant. She had not felt her baby move for a few days and was extremely worried. The staff from start to finish were absolutely outstanding and made my daughter & myself feel very reassured that everything was alright. My daughter was so grateful for their advice and understanding & I felt it only right that I leave a review. Thank you.
My daughter was admitted to the penguin ward last week with a nasty infection somewhere in her body. The nurses and doctors there were absolutely brilliant in making her feel comfortable and calm before her IV antibiotics. My daughter has a phobia of needles and with encouragement from the nurses she was able to have her medicine. I couldn’t fault the service and staff at all. They work their absolute butts off and have the most positive uplifting spirits ! Nicky made Ruby feel at ease before she had her cannula out and it was over in a matter of seconds. I’d like to thank all of the nurses and doctors who have looked after Ruby over the past week. You have made a scary situation a happy positive one. Wishing you all the best Christmas xx
I received exceptional service from Mr David Pennell in the ENT department. He was everything you would hope for and more: clear, reassuring and a master at his work. Mr Pennell is a credit to the hospital and the NHS.
My sister was throwing up bile, feverish with a very high temperature and had extreme pain when any food or drink hit her stomach. She was taken to A&E where they left her in the waiting area for over 24hrs! She had no sleep due to her symptoms before arriving at A&E and then when she would try and sleep across seats, as you do if you’ve had zero sleep due to severe illness and more hours sitting in a cold waiting area, she was told she could not do so, even though it was empty. They forgot a round or two of her medication they were giving her whilst she sat in pain for over a day. She only then got a trolley bed when a nurse who was is the previous night saw her still sitting there when she started her next shift the next night! DISGRACEFUL UTTERLY DISGUSTING! Her infection rate was over 200. Horrendous behaviour. If I could give zero stars I would!!!!
Friendly, clean, welcoming staff and surroundings especially as you are there in maybe scary circumstances. Made a difficult situation much easier and calming. Brilliant volunteer staff at cafe and assistant desk. Parking is the only problem sadly
