It's not bad definitely deserves more ratings lovely service and nice staff. The breakfast is good but they serve the same thing everyday and I would expect something different. Rooms are alright what you would expect from a hotel bathroom is a bit small. Overall great hotel.
With two weeks on the road in the UK the was the single BEST place I stayed. It was spotless! The entryway was perfect, the room was amazingly clean and cozy. My bathroom was very modern and shined. Breakfast was amazing both mornings and started the day perfect. I have been to Tenby several times and this will be the only place I will stay at from now on.
Great room there were 3 female adults we had 2 single and 1 double bed. Tea and coffee making facilities also biscuits. Bath and shower lovely hot water. Great breakfast included in the price. Full Scottish breakfast also continental breakfast cereal yogurt etc. Every food you could wish for at breakfast fresh coffee tea and fruit juice. Friendly staff very helpful. The room was extremely clean and fresh towels daily. Highly recommended.
Wonderful hotel with fantastic staff We booked 4 nights and weren't too sure at first as some of the photos on Google show an old and outdated hotel, however when you stay there you get a completely different feeling. We arrived pretty late due to our flight being delayed so getting in at around 10pm, the receptionist was great giving us all of the details and quickly processing our arrival. The place is 4 houses bonded together to make an 80 room hotel which is amazing, some parts are older but no doubt in time they will be upgraded to the same standard. Our room was a little outdated, however the bathroom was new with a multi channel TV. Breakfast was incredible, one of the best with vegan, vegetarian options, and kippers yummy. The staff made everything so easy being flexible to meet all of the guests needs especially providing all sorts of breakfast items from cereals, pancakes to fresh fruit. Fully recommended if your in Glasgow, easy walking distance to city centre and close by shops and bars.
Very cheap and when you arrive you see why but lovely staff and a great bed made me sleep in hahaha Could do with a better hoover as the floors are very dirty. A pair of socks left in the shared bathroom. But it was clean otherwise. The shower is pathetic. That needs addressing asap. Breakfast was great but it went from includes a free breakfast to that's £9 extra please.... Per person.... But I made the most of it ; Believe it or not I would stay again. Must go down as the smallest lift I have ever been in ever ever ever ...
The room was nothing like in the pictures. The room was filthy, bathroom, carpet, windows. The windows didn't close properly, the curtains stinked like cigarettes and the room was damp and moldy. I also got a thick from the bed, the only time I took my socks off, I saw it in the morning after a shower, wasn't there the previous day.The lift felt like you are going to be stuck in it. Took the stairs. I didn't dare use it again. The manager in the morning was to busy to speak to me regarding the thick. Phoned environmental health for them. Booked the guest house from a site Agoda. Bed was uncomfortable, didn't rest properly. Very shameful!
Lovely welcoming staff! We had a great stay! We were up on the third floor which meant quite a few stairs which I felt were quite narrow and slippery with the carpet on them if you weren’t careful. Excellent stay otherwise!
The good: - One of the cheapest accommodation options in Glasgow outside of youth hostels - Excellent location, half way between George Square and the old university - Good breakfast although coffee could be better - Our room was clean and reasonably comfortable - WiFi works well and is free The bad: - It looks like the rooms in the main building have been redecorated fairly recently. However we got a room on the top floor of one of the side houses and it was looking fairly worn out. So be careful about which room you get. - Advertised as having parking but you actually have to park on the street and purchase visitor parking vouchers £6 per day - Very noisy street, which is a surprise as it looked very calm. However garbage collection lorries come around 5am and make a lot of noise. Then on Fridays and Saturdays there is a nightclub nearby that goes until 3am. Due to the complete lack of noise insulation in our room, it sounded like the windows were wide open and it was really tough to sleep through it. - The bed was not great; you feel every jolt of your partner. - Some customers think the hall between rooms is a good place to have a loud conversation. Again, the main door provides no sound dampening at all so we heard every detail. Overall, it's a good option if you are on a budget and staying for just one or two nights as long as you don't expect too much comfort, but you should to ask for one of the better rooms which might be more expensive though?.
Location is great - 15 minute walk to the city, with a strip of restaurants, bars and clubs nearby. Despite being so central, the hotel is on a quiet street with no street noise whatsoever. Breakfast was excellent, and included in the price, making this hotel the best value by far that i could find in central Glasgow. I was travelling for business and requested a quieter room if possible. It was abundantly clear that this request was considered, as my room faced away from the street, was not close enough to the breakfast areas for noise to carry from there, and was a corner room, meaning that it was not sandwiched between 2 rooms. I travel for work often and it is exceptionally rare to see that my request for a quiet room has been considered so carefully. I stayed in another hotel the night before my stay at McLays, and they put me in a room right above the bar, and the bar served all night!
Stayed for one night, good location and reasonable parking for city centre, shared bathroom, to be fair it was much nicer than the room which was very dated, updating the decor in a lot of the building is years overdue. Breakfast wasn't very nice. I cant imagine staying again.
