Love the place . The People super nice. We were late for the Sunday Roast and they offer a great alternative. Good beer and even better dessert.
We went for lunch and the food was excellent. Best steak and Guinness pie I have had so far! The downside is queing up to order your food and drinks - 3 times. This place used to have excellent service so I think they need to work on that to make it 5 stars. We will be back as the food was top-notch!Food: 5/5
Booked a table for 5 on the website, when we turned up we were told they don't take bookings on match days, nothing about this on the website. Was told we could find a table, we managed to find 2 small tables which meant we had to sit separately. There were no menus on the tables but another customer gave us theirs, there was also a specials board. We went to the bar to order & was told you can only order for the menu a piece of A4 paper. The first person in our group ordered & then we were told the kitchen is closed for 20 minutes & they would not be taking anyone orders until then, so the test of us had to wait to order. When the food started to come out, we were then told they had run out of two of two of our orders. After all the hassle & the lack of organisation when the food came out it was really nice & would recommend.
A great boozer with loads of nooks and crannies and spaces for gatherings. Let down by lack of staff training and staff shortages. We queued for 20 minutes for drinks only to be told by the bar person that they couldn't serve us because they were only serving their half of the bar. Most people gave up queuing and went elsewhere. Disappointing for a local pub known for pre football match drinks. Surely management would have scheduled more staff.
I've been twice to McGettigans this month, both times pre football. A bog standard lager was £7 a pint, which is getting near the norm for inner city pubs. My issue was the lack of staff. Just two guys severing on a match day. The pub could have made more money if they had more bar staff. Every time we went to the bar it took up to 15 minutes to get served. On my second visit we got double the amount of drinks when at the bar, but carrying them back to the table in flexible plastic was a pain.
Today was the first time to dine-in in this amazing place, the atmosphere, food, staff, prices .. everything is so great, you can also watch sports, enjoy nice music and the portions are big. On Thursday there is 2 for 1 burgers, very nice offer! I had a beef burger with a very nice long island ice tea! Recommend to anyone! The owner put so much effort to make this place absolutely gorgeous! Every detail it's unique!
We come to Mcgettigans to host our family birthday parties - the team is amazing especially the manager Deborah! Deborah is so patient and ensured that we always have a great time at Mcgettigans We look forward to all future Hastings w/ the team
Nice pub, I personally found the music a bit loud, but this is surely just preference. Many nice people there!
Lovely place. Staff service was slow even though it wasn't busy but service was good when you got served! Will go again.
We went in randomly for a drink. The young lady that first served us first was very sweet and nice, but the man that took over her shift that wore a cap and glasses was so unfriendly. Not someone you'd expect at customer service at a pub. He didn't have to be friendly if he didn't want to be; He was not rude; but a simple smile would have been nice! Hence the rating for my low service rating.
