Love this shop, popped in to have a look around the final sale items. Some great bargains to be had! Only niggle was that the reduced clothes were not all together, meaning stuff could be missed. However, I managed to bag some bargains and headed for the tills. Here, I discovered that Matalan has erroneously introduced self-service tills. Only 2 of these were working, and I was advised that as I had a lot of stuff, I should go to the customer service desk, the only manned till, although this was not clear. There then ensued a lengthy wait whilst the member of staff dealt with a return. Eventually, further manned tills were opened to deal with the growing queue behind me! Using the Matalan app meant a nice discount on my shop. But why oh why must you introduce self-service? Customers like interaction with staff, which makes the shopping experience even more enjoyable. This is not a fast food outlet where people need to rush to a self-service till, please, Matalan, rethink this move!
Wasn't too crowded. Plenty of parking. The shop wasn't too packed. I managed to get what I visited for.nnI used the self service because it is easier for me to pay and leave without having to queue and cause stress to my poorly knees.
They were having problems with the front shutter not opening properly.nThe tills have moved again, BACK to where they have been before near the doors. Self Service tills are annoying, wish there had been more manned tills :nI did however find what I wanted :
Such a nice store, staff are great and the store itself is clean and well laid out.
Unfortunately Matalan still think women are smaller than they actually are. It's extremely difficult to find larger sizes, but if I was a 12 or 14 I would be able to find racks upon racks of these sizes. That says to me that larger sizes sell out far quicker than 12 or 14s so why not hold more larger sizes and less of the other. Even online it's hit and miss, more miss than hit if I'm totally honest. When I've been lucky enough to find something to fit I really like their clothes and prices, but you do let the larger lady down. It's not the 1980s anymore, women have evolved!!!
