I have shopped at Matalan previously and had no major issues or concerns. However, I would now be cautious and advise others to be wary of the level of customer service if you do have a problem. I bought a pair of jeans on 4th November 2022. They were a good fit and looked to be of reasonable quality. On 8th December, I went to put them on and found the seam at the rear had come apart. I have no idea how or when this happened. I do not do anything out of the ordinary while wearing them. I have worn them around 10 times, and they have been washed once. Unfortunately, I no longer have the receipt, as I believed they were ok, so threw it away. I returned them to the store for an exchange on 9th December. Once I had managed to find the only manned till in the store, for returns. I wasn't expecting any problem exchanging this, clearly faulty, garment, but I was mistaken. The person at the till, looked at the garment, asked when I bought them, and if I still had the receipt. I explained why I didn't have the receipt but told her when the purchase was made. With little consideration, she responded that this was normal wear and tear, and no exchange would be made. I asked her if she would be happy if she had bought a pair of jeans and they barely lasted a month. She didn't answer and just repeated her stance. I asked her if she was aware of the Consumer Rights Act, that says that goods should be of 'satisfactory quality'. She acknowledged said law but said it was irrelevant. I wasn't happy, so she said she would ask a manager. After a while, she returned and said the manager had confirmed what she had already stated. As I wasn't satisfied, she said she would call the manager. After another wait, another woman arrived. She briefly inspected the garment and, again, said it wouldn't be exchanged. I repeated that the garment was not fit for purpose, but to no avail. Their position was that this pair of jeans, which were sold faded, had been clearly worn excessively. I suggested they bring a new pair down to compare as they had been hardly worn. This 'manager' then said she had asked the manager, and they had said no exchange. I told them they were disregarding my rights under the Law, but they seemed to think this was a discretionary Law! I told them I would pursue the matter further and left as it was clear they were not bothered. Terrible customer service. AVOID
Click & collect was due to take 1 week but didn’t arrive on time. Item was required for a function that evening but the shop staff couldn’t give me any further info on when it might arrive nor would they cancel the order. Instead told me I will have to wait ANOTHER two weeks for a refund.
Great shop, but sadly not a lot of clothing in shop, adults yes ,children no

Collected my order via their click and collect service. The shop assistant was very quick in locating my order.
Really discusting that they have taken the cashiers away and made it all self service even taking the security tags out yourself whilst one employee stands there watching you struggle not offering any help at all. Customers should not have to take their own security tags off or look for bags I don't get paid to do that you're employee's do. So use them or employe extra staff
Lovely place to go and get that bargains, it is a big shop in multi levels The only big bear I have is downstairs there is only one till and two people working on it, you always have a massive queue. They should have more tills downstairs as they have upstairs
Awful treatment from staff at this store today. Had a trolley full of clothes and asked for help as I couldn't possibly put all through through their self service. She got all defensive about social distancing and then the next passive aggressive answer was that they were short staffed so no one could help me. Had to go get money at the cash machine and queue all over to be served.Will be making an official complaint to matalan and will certainly not be shipping with them ever again. Terrible experience.
I love their goods. The layout... THEY HAVE A GOOD EYE FOR COLOUR DESIGN AND WHATS trending.. I could spend loads of money in there if l had it. Its good to look. Staff pleasant and bonus.... They have a toilet....
Bought jumper on line still had electric tag on it, took back to shop today, I was told this happens as they tag them to come to shops!!! So don't buy online, took half day to travel to take it back or you pay to return your unwearable goods becouse tags hanging of, around£5,00 think not I want buy on line again to careless,
