Lovely meal at Marr Lodge today...the carvery is huge, and my husband said it was delightful. I had salmon and Diane sauce which was beautiful, one of my mates had the mixed grill. The meals from the main menu came quickly so we could all eat together. Great value for delicious food.
Sunday carvery is busy and pre-booking is essential. You will have 1hr 30 mins for your meal which is probably enough for a table size of 8 or less. Queues can be a bit lengthy at the carvery itself but service by all the staff is generally friendly. Would definitely return.
So we popped in on our way home from a long walk and it was packed. Went to the lovely lady at the reception who said we could be squeezed in for an hour which we accepted and was promptly led to a table. We all had the carvery and hand on heart it was the best we've had in a long time. Everyone was so friendly which is important to my eldest son who has anxiety issues but he was calmed down by the way he was spoken to. The food was simply amazing and cooked perfectly. I had all 3 meats which were spot on. My Mrs had a pie and beef and she really enjoyed it. Lots of veg and condiments. We will definitely come back but will prebook so we can enjoy a dessert.
Had a lovely meal. Booked a table for 5 people for 12 o'clock. We arrived about 10 minutes late as there was heavier traffic than expected. When we arrived, the RUDEST woman greeted us, pink hair and pink Crocs! She told us, they would need the table back by 13.30 as we were late. After we ate, she sent one of her waitresses across to remind us to be out by 13.30. Although the food was lovely... we will not be returning.
The food was very good, main meal was brilliant, our dessert custard was cool. The staff wasn't very sociable, when told about the cool custard did not seem concerned. Apart from that very good.
My favourite pub for a carvery. It's worth the 30 minute drive. Would visit more if it was closer. Best carvery ever, loads of choice, tasty home made.
Lovely meal this evening for my sons birthday all Had different meals and all plates were cleared food was lovely very clean place too and staff was very friendly first time we've been and we will definitely be back thank you
Went for a meal today and the staff ruined the experience to be honest. Especially the blonde young woman that was serving, constantly giving attitude& rolling her eyes like she didn't want to be there. Our table was rammed with empty glasses that were being ignored even though it was quiet so i thought id be nice and take them to the bar to save them a job and was greeted with a dirty look from one of the staff members so next time i won't help them out i'll let them clear it themselves. We ordered 3 mixed grills, well-done, medium-well& medium-rare and all 3 were basically cooked the same at medium mine was so pink i couldn't eat it so took it home for the dog but rest of the food was good, after we finished our meals they forgot about our dessert and we had to remind them, i would normally understand if it was busy but we was basically the only table in there so it's not hard to be attentive. I've been a waitress myself and if i treat my customers how we were treat today i would have got fired& i certainly wouldnt have been allowed to let a table be full to brim with glasses, and if a customer actually brought there glass to me to save me the job i was appreciative not giving them dirty looks for helping me out. Think they deffo need to invest in some more friendly staff who know the meaning of a smile and talking to people properly instead of with an attitude.
Nice meal on new years day with family 4 carverys one salmon an one mixed grill everyone enjoyed it an the prices were reasonable so no complaints from the 6 of us
Very friendly welcome from the front of house staff, easy to order.. the food was delivered quickly and cooked as required.. Good portion sizes and very reasonable prices.. The pleasant atmosphere was very relaxed, kitchen staff were happy in their work as all you could hear when you past was singing. Was a real pleasure to see.. will definitely return.
