The 3 courses for £25 on a Sunday is fantastic value for money. This doesn't mean you get 3 small courses, we left feeling full and happy. The food is inventive and very tasty, a choice of two dishes for each course meant we could find something for everyone. It's a very relaxed vibe with great service. We'll definitely go back.
I found the concept of a seasonal menu really unique and exciting. On my visit, I had a hispi cabbage with some sort of anchovy cream sauce as a starter. I liked it. I also tried some of my husband’s pork jowl with mustard starter which was also tasty. For my main, I had brown butter and sage tagliatelle with hazelnuts. It was alright, but nothing outstanding. It was a bit basic and didn’t feel like the main event for me. I liked the poppyseed cake with poached pear which I had for dessert. This was the highlight for me. Overall, the food was good but I expected a bit more especially since the resto is always fully booked and in demand. Maybe I should try it again. After all, they never serve the same menu.
Lovely, simple, tasty food. We shared 2 starters and 2 mains and had a cocktail and wine. Good quality food at affordable prices.
The concept of changing menu with the seasonal ingredients is the best part of Marcella. Loved their bread and butter which they bring as a complimentary starter! From the tastes you can say right away that they use high quality ingredients yet I believe the price of the mains are slightly high! The pasta could be much betterthe sauces and the texture of pasta but it had an acceptable quality!
Marcella superseded all expectations. Walking into the restaurant, the understated, and dare I say slightly underwhelming interiors, lowered initial expectations. However a first read of the set menu offered a telling insight into the thought and delight of the food that was to come. Each dish delivered a firm punch of brilliant and bold flavour, but also a delicate balance, underpinned by a controlled and measured richness that too many restaurants fail to achieve. Each dish unlocked the imagination of the palate and the food was partnered with a wonderfully flavoured glass of wine. A triumph. Well done to Marcella.
I have been here many times and it's always brilliant. Food is outstanding, service is excellent and, although it can be a bit pricey, it is well worth it as a treat. Also, I rely on lip reading and everytime I go in they make sure to face me, speak clearly and talk to me rather than addressing everything to my partner meaning I can always relax in to a good meal.
Cabbage with the bagna cauda sauce was honestly out of this world. Pasta's were nice especially the one with the sausage, although I found the one with the fennel a bit uninteresting. For main we had the octopus which was cooked to perfection. Small menu, kind of two items in each section, which is always good in a small place because this is how you know they pay attention to their food, however I found the dessert options too limited. Service was great, fast friendly, casual, 4/4 stars. It's really rare to have such a quality food restaurant without having to go to central London.
Had the £50 Christmas menu. Was in a big group and service was excellent. Food was also of very good quality. Reason for the low rating was that the portion size was small I left still hungry and then ate when I got home and, given that, it was overpriced at £50.Food: 4/5
A small cosy restaurant with a wide gate exposing kitchen, cellar for private hire set menu, with no space for walk-ins, fully booked. Three lovely ladies on service all come and ask if you are ready to order one by one, so be ready to order quick, pressure is on! There are only a few items on the changing menu. Therefore, I would expect all to be perfected. However, the dishes were not prepared with the due attention as they were advertised on the IG account of the restaurant. One of our mains and one of our starters were extremely salty, and one pasta was overcooked. The pepper mill we asked came empty. Overall, it was a decent place to eat. However, I don't recommend taking a trip or bother booking in advance. It's not worth the hype. Vegetarian options: One starter and one main is vegetarian, which I believe became a minimum acceptable standard in all restaurants in the UK, not sure if they could make it vegan.
A cosy little Italian in Deptford. Definitely worth visiting. Good food, beautiful setting and friendly staff. The Casarecce was to die for! Can't say I was equally impressed by the main course but I will be going back for more of that delicious freshly-made pasta!
