I've walked through this park many times but never noticed there was a café here until today. Quite lovely spot – I had the roast pork lunch box see photo and it was a really tasty plate of pork, roast potatoes, and a mixed salad, well dressed. I also had a very tasty single espresso. Total cost £9.70. I'll be back regularly!
I love this cafe. It feels like it caters for the community, and attracts a wide range of different people. The service is great and the food is delicious and comes fast. Working from here for a couple of hours over lunch is always a treat.
Pleasantly surprised by my experience. The café had a nice and quiet atmosphere with a modern yet quaint feel to it. The coffee was good, although I found the flat white to be a little too foamy for my liking. However, this didn't detract too much from my enjoyment of the drink. I also tried the vegan blondie which was also gluten-free. I'm often hesitant to try gluten-free products as they can be quite dry, but this was not the case with the blondie. It had a great peanut butter taste and paired well with the oat latte, which was also quite nice. The staff were friendly and offered to help when needed, which made for a pleasant overall experience. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area looking for a nice place to relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee and a tasty snack.
I've been here many times in the past and second under new management, mushroom soup is amazing, BUT really really let down by the general moody, kind of rude attitude, specially by one of which looks like is a manager, happened exactly the same way we were there last time. Just have to say, if you want to get some soup like me, bear in mind that possible not very friendly faces would be included, with exception of the girl at the till. Quite disappointed as we been customers of that place since Martin opened many years ago.
The cafe, which had consistently offered better quality food than most park cafes and at affordable prices, recently got new owners. They've wisely kept a lot of the old menu and made some sensible additions like paninis. Most of the other tweaks are neutral or positive but they have also started playing music fairly loud. I don't like most of the music, but if it were kept at a background level it might be okay. Unfortunately it is turned up quite loud in the middle of the day, more like you'd get in a bar in the evening. It drives me out faster than I would otherwise go and I do want the owners to ask themselves: does anyone actually go to cafes to listen to music? If they don't then the music should at least be unobtrusive. Aside from that I'm happy the cafe is still going and has even improved its range of offerings. Long may it continue.
Enjoyed a very agreeable coffee and pain au chocolate here on a Sunday morning. Good little sun trap outside in the garden space. Will defo visit again.Food: 4/5
Great little local cafe. Very reasonable prices for food and drink. Friendly staff, but staff couldn’t give me the WiFi code so I could work in there on my laptop for a couple of hours. So very disappointed in that. Hence the 3 star rating.
For anyone who likes good quality German beer like Augustiner or not too sweet German cakes without terrible icing, this place is a pearl. Situated in this quiet park it’s not easy to reach but the best time spent on a Sunny weekend afternoon.
I've normally had very good experiences with the food at cafe honle. However, when I purchased the linguine and meatballs to take out, I got home and realised I'd only been given 3 meatballs, they were also hard and dry. For 6 pounds, it's quite dissapointing.
Great little cafe, very community orientated. Friendly staff, nice menu, lovely surroundings too. Highly recommended, nice background music, good quality of food and drinks, really impressed. If ever I'm passing again, I'll be sure to return.
