I went into Maplin, Redditch earlier on today. Staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I had some issues with some cabling and Bernie was more than happy to help me and explained what I needed to do. Very happy and my Internet is working again!
It's like amazon in shop form.. but more expensive. You pay more for stuff here but you do get high quality products and have access to knowledgeable and helpful staff who aren't pushy or trying to get sales. They will happily recommend cheaper items if they think it will suit your needs better instead of suggesting the most expensive items to try and get more money.
Growing to be a good store with helpful staff. Yes things may be high street pricing rather than online retailer but they price match against the high street and are exceptionally good with faults or replacements under warranty. Also if you keep your eyes open they do get some bargains in on higher end products. Their i7 5930k was cheaper by £50 than anyone else even some ebay stores when I bought mine. And as a maker they hold Pemoroni and Adafruit stock at the same price and sometimes cheaper than the suppliers do them selves. Which means getting it same day or even being able to see the product before you buy. Other makers should always check the price break on smd components though, there are times when 30 will cost the same as 6 of an item. With all the other stores going out of business against Amazon and alike it's worth using maplin when you can otherwise when they are gone and Amazon Now doesn't carry what you want you will realise how useful this chain really was as there is one in every major city.
Staff are very friendly, they seems to always have items in stock too. Great parking, open late. Its just a shame most things are so pricey!
Overpriced rubbish. You're better off buying components from somewhere like CPC, Farnell or RS Electronics.
Friendly and knowledgable staff and nice store. Some of the products are a bit naff.
Can spend hours walking round napkins. Loads of cool stuff! Bit pricy though.
