Some of the best Spanish tapas I’ve ever had! Incredible food and lovely atmosphere. Service was excellent and faultless. Had 5 tapas and 2 desserts which were plentiful. Definitely coming back soon!
The food was absolutely delicious, we especially loved the croquettes which were 10/10. Also really enjoyed the calamari as they were fresh and not rubbery, the batter was light and not too oily. The pimientos de padron were also very good. Patatas bravas were a bit too crispy for my liking to the extent where some I couldn't really eat as I was worried I may lose a filling We also ordered one of the specials - scallops with romesco sauce. They came with iberico on top, which was not listed in the menu, and was an issue as my friends don't eat pork. The waiter was apologetic and offered a replacement. We then realised the romesco sauce is nut based, which we didn't know, and the allergen wasnt listed on the menu either but at this point we didn't want to turn into the guests from hell. Unfortunately the scallop dish wasn't the only hiccup that evening, as we had to wait over 40 min to be served food. Also when the bill came we noticed we had been charged for 2 soft drinks that we didn't have, we notified the waiter who took the bill but only took one of them out. We didn't bring it up again as it felt awkward but it reflected our tip. Also there was a bit of a sewage/stale smell, even tho we were far from the toilets. Overall, we had a good night, if this was in actual Malaga, I'd give it 3*, but since it is in the south side of Glasgow, my expectations were somewhat lower and the food was good
I always drive past this place and I've always wanted to try it for the past 3 years. It's a nice cozy place with a lot of options. They recommend 3 dishes per person and yup I'm stuffed after that. The chicken and lamb are halal but some of the items are cooked in wine so do watch out. The chicken skewers were a let down to be honest, as one of the 2 skewers were overloaded with fennel seeds, that ruined the taste in my opinion. My skewer was fine but my wife's wasn't. The food did come out quite relatively fast but I felt their general service later on in the evening slowed. I saw a few people waiting for service and noticed tables were still not cleaned quite a bit after other customers had left. None the less definitely would recommend it and look forward to trying the other dishes. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options like potato bravas, tortilla, garlic breads etc. Parking: Parking outside is a single yellow so in the evenings it's ok but not sure where to park during the day.
Brilliant service and top quality food. Will be back soon. Has all your favourites and a great specials board. We ended up going for six tapas but added another two. Calamares is one I always go for and I was not disappointed here. Lamb chops had a nice marinade. Could not fault any dish. Tried one of the white ones which hit the spot. Staff were friendly and attentive. Always good when they tell you when to stop ordering tapas and just tell you to order more if need be. Location is not on the 'main strip' around Shawlands or Strathbungo but not far away at all. Less than 30 minute walk from Shawlands Cross. Plenty of parking at the venue. Highly recommend this place.
Superb place. Food is consistently great, fantastic specials and wonderful service. Brilliant atmosphere in a small, so make sure you book, but vibrant restaurant. Great selection of drinks including a tremendous pint of Madri on draft. Never had even an average dish there.
This was a very enjoyable experience. The food was very good and I'd have wanted to try many more dishes. We will come back!. The wines by the glass were OK but we weren't drinking enough to have a bottle and there were some good ones there. A sherry to start was a nice touch - Palo Cortado is recommended! - and we were treated to a wee Oloroso at the end a nice finishing touch. It may be a function of my age and mild tinnitus but the ambient noise and music was just a bit too much. Nevertheless, thank you, Malaga Tapas, for a lovely evening out.
Delicious food and super reasonable prices. We ordered for collection during lockdown, service was great and it's one of the best dinners we've had this year. Would recommend the 'pollo a la crema', 'chorizo con tomate' and 'queso de cabra', lovely tapas!
Came here with friends for dinner. We'd already make a reservation, so had no problems getting a table. It was a Tuesday evening and it was busy. Inside, there's a pleasant Andalusian theme that would not be out of place in the real city of Malaga itself. The specials board had about five items, all written in Spanish. Which I thought was a little strange given that the average Glaswegian isn't known for their linguistic skills. Since no one could read Spanish, we just ordered off the menu and settled on fritters, patatas, vegetarian paella, a mixed vegetable stew and mushrooms. The mushrooms were pretty awful, which no one could finish off. It tasted of brine, like it had come out of a tin. But everything else was really nice especially the paella, flavoursome, and well cooked rice, thoroughly cooked, soft and slightly firm like paella should be. The patata with a spicy sauce was so nice we ordered another portion. After the food, for some reason the waitress apologised for the slow service, which was absolutely not the case. The service was good especially considering how busy it was.
A good, varied menu plus specials on the blackboard. Brings some much needed Spanish sun to a dreary Glasgow winter's day. I just wish I lived a bit closer.Food: 5/5
Been coming here for a good few years now, a true hidden gem. Food is always incredibly fresh and well cooked. Would highly recommend any of the seafood dishes. The chef and wait staff are all A+ in my book. For the price you pay too it's very reasonable for the high quality that you get. Would recommend to anyone! If you're a tourist in the city centre it's a quick hop on the subway and a short walk to get here also.
