Good selection of dishes from traditional fish and chips to healthier grilled fish.nnFood was fresh and well cooked.nnNice views and service was great.nnIt can get busy though, we went at a quiet time, 1445 but it was still relatively busy. We pre-booked so no having to wait for a table.
Absolutely perfect fish and chip restaurant in Whitby. Obviously there are lots but I am so pleased we settled with this one! Spotless throughout….staff are extremely polite and helpful. Fish and chips were the best I have ever had!!!! Can’t recommend this place enough! A****** and 11 out of 10!!
We have been very lucky to get a table straight away! The place has been recommended to us by independent friends so obviously we decided to have lunch there. The menu is excellent and extremely large. We have traditional fish and chips. The best I ever had. The whole operation is very well organised and the staff is friendly and professional. I can only recommend.
After reading mixed reviews of Magpie cafe I wanted to at least eat at your cafe.I booked a table for 2 people on 21st October 14.00.nI could actually smell the strong odour of fish as I entered the cafe. This is a big sign of bad fish.nWe ordered 2 plates of haddock and chips.nI have to give you an honest reviewnThe consistancy of the haddock was mushy with a slime coating on the outer surface. It wasn't the worst tasting batter I have ever tasted, but certainly wasn't the best. Very very greasy.nChips were very undercooked.nOh there's more-nComing from a fishing town I know when the fish is fresh or bad, and your haddock should not have been served to customers.nWithin half an hr of only eating half of the haddock myself and husband started suffering from stomach cramps etc.nThe meal for 2 people cost £40.60nSorry but you cannot justify the shocking price of a bad meal.nSea towns fish should taste fresh no excuse.
Visited @ 4:30 pm on Saturday. It was very busy and we had a short wait to get a table. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We didn't have to wait long to order food and drinks. I ordered a regular haddock and chips with a cappuccino. The fish and chips were not the best I've ever had, but they were definitely pretty good. Overall, it came to £40 so the value was average.
