About

Maggie’s is warm, friendly and traditional, with a generous menu full of classic dishes, beautifully cooked.

Story

Maggie Jones’s has been a favourite haunt among Kensington locals for over 40 years. Cosy, rustic, informal and incurably romantic, the restaurant is tucked away in a little cul-de-sac between Kensington High Street and Kensington Church Street.

6* Absolutely amazing restaurant located in Kensington. Came here a couple of times previously and unfortunately they were fully booked, tried our luck again and thankfully they were able to squeeze us in.BE WARNED- if you haven't booked you'll be lucky to get in, definitely so at peak times. The menu looked great, rustic English fare.We went for stilton mousse and cheese and leek tart for starters followed by rump of lamb and fish pie. The food was faultless. Every dish tasted gorgeous. The wine just went for Malbec and Chablis by the glass was very nice too. The service was friendly, attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was warm, cosy and romantic with a very rural theme. Prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food and the location of the restaurant. Overall we had a great time and I'm so glad we were able to get a table. We'd both like to go again, soon. My thanks to the gentlemen on the door, they were very busy so I didn't get chance to get his name owner, manager, maitre d, greeter? But he was amazing and a real credit to the restaurant. I'd highly recommend this restaurant.
Fantastic service, ambience, and food. The food itself is good, but it's really everything else that puts the experience over the top! It's a little pricey, but specially compared to other pubs, but in my opinion, completely worth it! I had: - Stilton mousse: fantastic! - Sausage and mash: good. The onion gravy had fantastic depth - Chocolate pot: dense, but silky
My husband & I went to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. The servers were very polite and attentive with a warm, welcoming smile the moment we entered the restaurant. The food was full- flavoured, especially the crispy roast pork belly. We both truly enjoyed our meal. Giving us the most memorable experience. Highly recommended
I made this last minute booking through email and got the confirmation within minutes so that was a good start! Very responsive even over emails. The place is unpretentious but you get more than you would expect! I chose this place for a catch-up with my friends whom I haven’t seen for 10+ years! We were led downstairs which was a surprise at first but it was the perfect place and my friends really liked it too — what with it’s rustic charm and English food. The food was fantastic we even had a vegetable dish on the house, thanks!. Service was superb and very patient with us when we delayed our order because one of my friends was running late. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely come here again with my family next!
Fancy traditional British restaurant where u indulge in the original English experience. Imagine enjoying traditional food where the sister of the Queen used to eat and enjoy her time with other royalty members! Such a vibe and a beautiful experience! Food is so good. Never in my life have i tried such butter and all the dishes are impeccable; not to mention the welcoming of the staff.. A must try experience whenever you are in London
I can not say enough positive things about our dining experience at Maggie Jones. Our last night in London, we searched for a restaurant that had a British menu and beautiful atmosphere. We couldn't have picked a better place to cap off our week long stay! The staff were so accommodating and interactive, especially with our children. Thomas, our waiter, was especially personable and kind. He went out of his way to make our children aged 8 and 4 feel welcome in a sophisticated atmosphere. The food was delicious. Best meals we've all had in a long time. Everything from the bread, the main course, to the dessert was exceptional. My picky children who only eat cheese pizza and chicken nuggets, ate all the chicken breast and chips that were prepared just for them. The decor and ambiance were warm and comforting. If I ever come back to London, I'll be sure to visit Maggie Jones again!
We were accidentally a day late for our reservation, but the staff was happy to move some tables around to accommodate our party of five! The food was outstanding. We all chose to do the prefix menu, and I had the quiche/tarte, the sausage & gravy, and the apple crumb w/custard. All were excellent. They serve magnums of wine & charge you according to how much of it you drank, which is a brilliant idea! They also do glasses, but for our group the magnum made sense. Service was super friendly. Highly recommend!
Absolutely amazing! Can't really think of a single negative aspect of our visit to Maggie Jone's. The place is beautifully decorated, which kind of takes you back in time. It was also interesting and fun to eat at a restaurant that is almost entirely lit by candles. Our waiter Louie was an absolute gentleman, very courteous and helpful with recommendations. Last but not least, the food was probably one of the best we've had during our stay in London. My partner and I went for the 3 course menu, which was so plentiful that we ended up sharing one dessert.
Even though the waitress was patient, she wasn't friendly or welcoming at all. She didn't look happy and it felt like she didn't want to talk to serve us at all. The food itself was flavourful but unfortunately, the flavours that they incorporated just weren't for me. I was the one who chose those particular courses so I can't really blame them. Which is why I had trouble leaving a lower rating because the food itself was decent, but it was just not meant for me. I had the Duck Liver Pate, the Shepherd's pie and the Burnt cream. The appetizer and main course had too much aftertaste from the liver and the lamb for me to enjoy. But, I am sure a lot of people would enjoy those flavours that were overwhelming for me. The atmosphere is enjoyable, a bit too dark for my personal liking but it was relaxing and classy. The portions were pretty generous, it matched the prices that were a bit more expensive.
We enjoyed the artisan level cuisine at this charming, unique Kensington restaurant. Maggie Jone's does an excellent job of delivering a British Farm restaurant experience combined with outstanding food. The service provided is of the highest order. Prices are moderate for such an excellent restaurant.Food: 5/5
