popped in for drinks. wifes cocktail was great. a bit disappointed cider was a can, but staff, atmosphere and decor still make it 5 starsService: 5/5
Apologies to Mademoiselle's Cafe as the one star I left previously was because my phone died whilst doing the review. Unfortunately you appear to have me mixed up with another customer as I had a lovely experience with my partner. I do not have a daughter and it wasn't my birthday. So I would just say that you need to be more careful in the future when responding to reviews. We had been in for lunch on the Thursday as it was our first day and visit to Whitby and I had seen on Trip Advisor how lovely the place looked. We travel a lot abroad and are always looking out for little gems and this is one. The decor is beautiful. So much attention to detail and I loved the chandaliers, the ornate mirrors and beautiful cut glass wine glasses. I sent photos immediately to my French friends to make them jealous. As the food was so lovely I recommend the chicken salad and the staff were so friendly we asked if we could get a table for the evening and were lucky enough to get a cancellation for the Friday evening albeit a tad early at 6.30pm. It is popular so book ahead. The early evening did not disappoint. This place also distills its own gin we were told another feather in its cap.The starters were delicous particularly the black pudding with caramelized apples and onions and the main meal of duck was very tasty. The staff were very attentive and it was a lovely evening and I would recommend coming here for a deliciously, decadent French evening. Unfortunately I have not received an apology for the mistaken identity as of yet.
Enjoyed a fantastic meal here on Saturday night. The restaurant decor is amazingly quirky and the food was faultless. The service will really good, welcoming, friendly. A perfect end to a lovely day exploring Whitby. Definitely recommend and would definitely visit again. Thank you!
Amazing atmosphere and very friendly staff and absolutely lovely food thank you Chef. They whole place has a warm and relaxed decor and vibe, no rush, no drama, just relax and enjoy the experience. A great find that we'll return to whenever we are in the area. I recommend you try it for a quick coffee and cake or their fuller most delightful dishes, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
Great ambience, with decor reminiscent of the Belle Epoch. Food was great and the service exceptional. Highly recommended.
Great place, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.
An overall unpleasant experience probably as a result of over reaching themselves. Curt welcome being told to stay outside in the rain. Nice inside. A positive was a short menu that didn't offer all things to all men, but was let down when 2 of the Mains ran out. This despite a sign outside saying they were fully booked all week so known capacity. Getting the last Pork Stroganoff was a positive for other diners. It should be renamed Pork Slagitoff. Not sure where that recipe originated. Well over an hour between courses, and the mains did not come out together with quite a delay. Paid in full before raising the issues with the management to give them the opportunity to up their game. None of the table tipped. She said lots of people liked their Stroganoff and produce was in short supply. Dine at your own risk.
Such an unusual restaurant. Staff friendly, food quite good but a little pricy. Good for a special occasion. Best espresso martini ever.
Such a wonderful restaurant, beyond my expectations, great wines too!
Loved this quirky little bistro. The food was great and really well cooked and presented. The staff were bright and helpful in every aspect. Definitely recommend the Afogato.
