Natterjacks was recommended to me as a great Vets several times. I'm so glad I signed up my 4 legged family. They are brilliant. All the team are kind and caring. Prices are really competitive. I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Firstly I take reviews with a pinch of salt and read all reviews. But I had to make this honest review as others have recently. We joined Natterjacks when we moved into the area a year ago joining the pet plan as well. The pet plan did not cover as much as our previous vet but we went with it. Initially all was okay not great just okay. We have since been advised the plan has gone up by £2 a month and the flea and tick Nexgard has been downgraded. Collected the first tick and flea and our dog hasn’t stopped scratching. Seems to be a money saving exercise but put up the premium. Just like the dog and cat food they sell that has been scaled back as well. Our dog suffers with anxiety in the car so visited as we were going to Cornwall to get something to help him. We explained the details and stated we wanted something that worked no trial etc. we were prescribed a herbal tablet of which there were only a few. Upon paying it was £65, I nearly fell over I could get the same herbal thing on Amazon for £15 and for 90 tablets. They said if it doesn’t work they will prescribe something else. I bet they would and probably another £65+. Guess what it didn’t work one bit absolutely no difference and £65 light. Recently I have noticed the staff churn every time I visit, the photos are ever changing and that speaks volumes. Like the other recent reviews on here may have been good in the past but not good now. We will be leaving and going back to our vet, far better and a real personal service. I’m sure I will get the same generic response “We take customer feedback very seriously blah blah blah. How about you learn from the reviews and act upon it, that is what reviews are for. Would I recommend them absolutely not.
We recently had to put our beloved pet rat Logan to rest and all I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the staff and especially Katie who was extremely helpful and caring throughout our visits. I couldn't ask for a kinder more understanding team. On top of this I got a card from Katie and the team on our recent loss - this was extremely thoughtful and touched our hearts. Thank you again for the service you provide as the team do an amazing job and I would trust them with any of our pets.
My little Millie passed after short illness . Had her cremated .was shocked at amount had to pay when collected her ashes. Was £340 . She was a tiny westie .. did query it . Was told that’s what the cremation charge . My friend who lost his lovely dog a month before . Bigger than mills . Same service . Paid £220. Still puzzled . Different vets.
We were down in Bournemouth visiting my sister for my birthday with our 2 x whippets. We had been on the beach earlier in the day and the dogs had been playing ball as they normally do. They usually get a bit of sand in their eyes but it normally comes out in the form of an "eye bogie". Later on that day we noticed that our male whippet Alfie, couldn't keep his right eye open and the third eyelid was drawing across his eye. We contacted Natterjacks and was given an appointment straight away for 4pm that day. The eye was very painful for Alfie and he wouldn't let them examine it properly so at 5pm he was sedated, both eyes were flushed out, and a small ulcer was found on his right eye. He was back home for 6.30pm with drops and painkillers. We are very grateful to Natterjacks for their prompt treatment, asi if it had been left it would have been far worse. The staff were all very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, everything was explained to us and made very clear how to administer the medication. Thankfully 24hrs later his eye was almost back to normal and Alfie a lot happier getting the drops in is another story though. I would definitely recommend Natterjacks, and they would certainly be my choice of vet, if we ever moved down to Bournemouth.
All about the money - no personal touch - staff change here alot! I paid into the monthly Animal Health Plan to cover vaccinations and flea treatment for my cat. 18 months later, I was told that I needed to pay for my cat's vaccinations as they had expired. I tried to reason with them and they offered me a 50% discount on new vaccinations. However, this 50% discounted price turned out to be the same full price that 3 local vets quoted me. I understand that vets need to make money, but if it's the personal touch that you're after, this isn't the sort of vets that I would recommend. I've registed my cat at another local vet and have the same monthly package at a more competitive price and thankfully my little cat is now fully vaccinated.
All they care is money!! Took my cat for a check up then the vet ask to see her a week later for a review! He just forgot to mention I would have to pay again £40 for literally 1 minute check without barely even touching my cat! Completely disgusting behaviour from everyone in this clinic
Sorry, this is a very long one. This review isn't a reflection on the nurses I got to meet while visiting this vet's. Nurses such as Kim and Sophie were incredible individuals to work with, empathetic and kind with special thanks to Kim who went above and beyond to help my cat and I. My cat got a tail pull injury, causing her to not be able to express her bowels/bladder anymore. In the span of a week, I had to watch my cat's health deteriorate, take her to this vet's SIX TIMES, 4 to learn how to express her bladder. The vets who saw her the first two times and were supposed to SHOW ME how to do this myself did not do this, one of them even saying that it would be too difficult to show. If that's the case, how come has Kim allowed me to put my hand over hers as she felt over my cat's bladder and even brought a teddy bear stuffed with a lemon to help me find it? It was thanks to Kim that I managed to finally get some pee out. Unfortunately, my cat's bladder started filling up with blood that same evening, possibly due to constant build up and pressure, and I went to this vet's again the next day after a full night of her bleeding and leaking urine all night in my bedroom. The next day, the vet suggested hospitalizing her for a few hours to see if it would help, however she believed it was unlikely my cat would make it through the weekend. Obviously this was devastating information, but I accepted this extra charge they only charged me half on that day, not sure why because I wanted my cat to be okay. Unfortunately, I was called to come and pick her up earlier, it seems that there was nothing else they could do about her condition, and I had to make the difficult decision to put her to sleep. I opted to cremate her and put her remains in a coffin. On the day, they said I could split the payment for this entire procedure. Well, the day comes up around two weeks later, I show up ready to pay thinking I could split the payment. I was informed by the receptionist that I could not split the payment, I dismissed it instantly and accepted to pay £315 - I just wanted to get out. It was a payment for the shot, cremation and coffin. I paid this and was ready to leave but was told that there still was a £70 charge from when my cat was hospitalized, however I came to pick her up earlier that day, so is it really even £70. But anyway, fine. I thought I could pay this at a later date, but no, the receptionist said that they would not be releasing my cat's ashes unless I paid the £70. How can a respectable establishment accept this type of policy and try to enforce it on a grieving customer who's had to go through a fairly gruesome passing of their companion, visiting them near daily and accepting to pay every single time, even JUST HAVING PAID YOU £315?! How dare you try and hold my cat's ashes hostage after all the pain and fear that she's been through? And how dare you allow your staff to suggest that I BORROW MONEY off of someone, deliberately putting myself in debt while I cry in your reception because you are threatening to refuse me closure for another month? Please tell your staff not to promise their customers they can split payments. Please tell them to never suggest they borrow money to close up their account. And PLEASE, review your policy around releasing ashes, this practice is just irrational, especially considering everything that my cat and I have been through. She BLED all night next to me, I wrestled to express her bladder, I was holding on for a chance to have her around me for longer, and after such a loss, you almost refused me that closure. I am thankful that after much crying from my part, you finally relented and gave me her ashes. I refuse to disclose the names of the staff who told me I could split payments and suggested I borrow money. Please do not contact me and ask for their names. I will, however, reiterate that throughout all of this pain, Kim and Sophie have both been amazing and deserve to be recognized as such in your establishment. Please make sure this message is passed onto them.
This place used to be amazing. Circa 2021 ish it went massively downhill. I experienced vets lying to my face which I find absolutely unacceptable. Once upon a time this was top of my list of vets to recommend, now I wouldn't give them the time of day. You should know that any negative experience you get here and bring up with them will be met with an email from Armiche Fernandez Sanchez to completely shut you down and lie in order to protect themselves. I since learnt that Andy the original co-founder of Natterjacks in fact sold it so you can guarantee that all the new people care about is money. So, no. I would not recommend. Magnolia House in Christchurch is amazing. As is Linwood in Bournemouth.
We were in a pinch for a Vet for help with our poorly cat. Natterjacks staff stepped up and totally helped us out. Quick, friendly, informative and fairly priced. I would recommend them for sure.
