Family friendly day out with the National Art Pass scheme. Visited with my husband and my 5 month old baby. I used our body carrier rather than our pram / pushchair, but you would be fine using your pram as there’s a place you can leave it under cover while going around the house. The house is great, very interesting, but not all of it open. I would say the best part of the whole place though is the zoo, brilliant, it’s been pretty much fully redone since I last visited over 5 years ago, it’s absolutely brilliant. Great kids play areas too, plenty of parking and some nice small family friendly walks.
One of our favourite places to go anytime of the year. I treated myself to a family annual pass so we can go whenever the mood takes us. My youngest especially enjoys the Halloween & Christmas Experiences. On nice days we can make a full day of it, take a picnic, see the animals & plenty of equipment for all ages to play on.
Love visiting here- probably why we are members. Lots of space to run around, the wildlife section is great and a lot of care and attention goes into looking after all the birds/animals. Great woods to wander around in and love seeing the deer herd
So worth the long trip from Birmingham. I definitely need to comeback as I ran out of time this trip. Still need to see the orchard and the deer too. £9 per person and the parking was included, which I thought was brilliant. I saw some reviews complaining about the ice cream, but it was good and the wafer cones were good quality too, so I thought it was fine. I do wish the gift shop had more things there, I feel like it lacked a lot of variety.
Stunning afternoon out. Beautiful setting for some wonderful shots of the sunset and garden. Really enjoyed walking around zoo and seeing all the wonderful selection of birds. Great service and food in the cafe
Lovely Lotherton. Attended here today, we were fortunate enough that today coincided with a 1940’s weekend on the grounds of the estate. However I’ll just review the Hall, gardens and Animal sanctuary. The house though it may look smaller on the outside, compared to other local treasure houses like Temple Newsham/Harewood house. There’s lots to see inside and all the rooms & floors are open to the public. The gardens are good. Lots of trails and paths you can take. There’s also a children's outdoor playground, which is quite large. The paths lead to the animal & bird sanctuary, this was pleasant surprise as I wasn't expecting it to be so large and we spent an hour going round this part. There are outdoor ice creams van/stall and the large stables which is now a cafe. The ticket price of only £8 plus booking fee was definitely worth it. We spent about 2/3 hours here with 2 children 9-14 years old. Who both had a nice day. The site is very close to the M1 motorway & A1 so is easily accessible by car, entrance to the site was swift as we booked online and showed the staff the QR on entrance. Overall worth a visit. Nice & houses gardens , the animal alone is worth a trip.
Called here for the 1st time in a long time. I thought £9 per adult was a little expensive. We had a dog with us so was not able to go in the animal /bird garden. It did have a nice walk around the grounds. We did visit the cafe. We had to queue for over half an hr! I did at one point think should we just not bother. Once inside the cafe I could see why. They seemed to be very short staffed! But overall had a nice afternoon walk with my dog.
Lovely afternoon out in the sunshine. Great place to walk around, the house and its history were really interesting too. Favourite bit was the wildlife park, such a range of animals! If you don't have a car, we got a train from Leeds to Garforth then split a taxi £4 each. There is also a bus that goes nearby too.
Visited today. £9 entry for adults. Dissapointed to discover after paying our entry fee that the house is closed until March and the walk through enclosures in the small animal park were also closed, one had signage saying due to bird flu. A number of enclosures also had signs on that the animals that should have been in them had been moved elsewhere the condor and anaconda. Not only that a number of enclosures looked empty anyway and like they were undergoing maintenance. Ended up feeling like a really expensive couple of hours for the children to play on the playground and have a walk round the grounds which we could have done for free at any local park.
Really lovely day out with family. £30 for 4 adults and an under 5. Lots to do, good park, adventure playground, nice woodland walk and walk round the grounds. Cafe was a bit busy but food is nice and good choice of cakes and snacks for a treat.
