Five stars for the location and the staff friendliness, not so much the upkeep, food and price. We stayed over the New Year for something a little different and quite enjoyed the stay, it was just very average for the price. A few people have described it Lodge on the Loch as Faulty Towers, and I have to agree. For the first few hours, we were convinced the guy on reception was the only member of staff doing all the jobs! The hotel is beautifully positioned, main downside is the main road outside, which will getter quieter as the evening draws on. Expect to pay £35+ a head in the restaurant for pretty average food and wine. I would advise heading up to Fort William if you want something decent and substantial. Finally, the hotel is quite old - which is nice, but instead of that rustic aged feeling, it's worn, tired and run down. The bathroom we had looks nice in the pictures but it lacks a shower. The bath has lots of scratches in it and the water comes out brown (I assume this to be an issue with a deluge in the Highlands whilst we were there). The hot and cold taps were plumbed up wrong leading to a freezing surprise!

Location was superb, clean and traditional, the hotel is slightly dated and could do with a few upgrades. An example would be to have a free standing shower in the bathroom rather than as part of the bath suite. Good food, apart from the portion sizes, can't complain as the staff were lovely and very accommodating!

The room was cramped and tiny compared to the price we paid for it. No lift made climbing multiple floors interesting with luggage. Breakfast was decent. Grounds were attractive but not the best view of the loch without walking a way down the road. Couldn't close bathroom door while sitting on toilet, it was so tiny!
