Huge modern library, terrace on top, free entrance to visit, nice design combining new and old, internet access, lots of sitting/reading/studying places. 24h book return outside
I've not been to Central Library since 22 December 2020 since before the last day taking break closing for the Christmas Holidays also closed for 4 months due to the third national lockdown of the pandemic Coronavirus Covid 19. Due to reopening on the 12th April 2021 easing the national lockdown.
Why the hell i didn’t come here to do my homework all the time when I was at school in the city I just don’t know. The Picton reading room is so grand and ornate, one of the most beautiful libraries I’ve ever seen. Keeping spaces like this free for all to access is so important, well done to all involved in reopening post-lockdown.
A wonderful library with an excellent range of specialist and general books. At street level there is a coffee shop with access to an outside seating area facing st John's gardens behind st George's hall.
Great library with helpful staff and access to computers and a wide range of literature. The building is incredible and has a really unique design, well worth a walk through if you're in the area.
I dropped here purposely to see the incredible interior after checking out reviews. I was not disappointed. I’m fact I’m so envious of those who can access the facilities at the drop of a hat. It’s modern, it’s Georgian and highly technical with old fashioned charm. You can happily use this as your hideaway all day.
I'm in love with this library! Especially reading room is fascinating. My only advice is to change the seating arrangement in front of the architecture department. It is very difficult to examine the architecture books.
Amazing place for books lovers. Four or five floors, lots of computers available, good Costa coffee on the first floor, beautiful combination of old and modern architecture depending on the room you are. Nice view of Liverpool from the opened terrace. Worth the visit!
Beautiful huge library perfectly mixing the modern with the historical. The entrance atrium of 4-5 storeys is amazing and yet the round reading room harks back to a bygone era. Very busy on a Saturday but also automated machines for checking books in and out. Just how all libraries should be
The space inside has amazing lighting, the architecture is beautiful even though as the stairs are confusing, the last floor has a balcony with an amazing view and the places inside are so beautiful and so different from all the other libraries I’ve been in my life! Definitely will visit in the future
