Little Ropers Woodland Camping
"We offer a 'wild camping' experience just for tents, on a working farm. Camping on the main site is either in the woodland or the adjacent meadow, wherever you pitch, our setting is a tranquil alternative to more commercial sites. We also have two bell tents to hire, pitched in their own seperate area, closer to the farm. Our farm is surrounded by stunning views and walks through the Stour Valley. Being only a small site, numbers are limited. Vehicles are left at the farm and campers have a 5-10 minute walk to the site, which adds to the ‘wild camping’ atmosphere. Wheelbarrows are free to borrow or for those with alot of equipment an ATV and trailer will take you to the site for a small fee. Unfortunately we must ask you not to bring dogs."

I've been here a couple of times, as an ex soldier, I haven't stayed outside since I served over 10 years ago. Last year I finally was persuaded to cone with a friend and I was pleasantly surprised. I see this place as a perfect beginners campsite. Quiet and basic, but still has toilets and running water. I'm gonna bring my wife again very soon as she's keen on trying camping and this is ideal.
This is a fantastic little campsite. Our host, Tom was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was informative, super helpful and accommodating going above and beyond what you expect. The campsite itself is just amazing. The camping area is divided into two main areas; a large open field area and the woodlands. We stay in the woodland which was just stunning. It is well spaced out with pitches being no less that 20 meters apart. Each pitch has a designated firepit, firewood can be bought at an addition cost just a tenner and all the BBQ equipment you could ask for. Amenity wise, there was everything you could want. A clean washing up area with fresh running water and 2 flushing toilets. There are also hot showers which cost 1 pounds for 3 minutes. The only minor downside is that they are a fair walk around from the campsite about 5 minutes. There is also a small self service shop where you can buy all your essential such as ice cream and sugary snacks. What makes this place special is all the little things that Tom and his family has done for the guests. From having laminated walking guides available, self service store, having the pitches really far apart, laser cut fire pits which makes for an awesome photo for the gram. I can't recommend this place enough and I will definitely come here again. Oh did I mention theres a local llama that you can feed?
Great little campsite, would advise booking. The main section is designed for small tent, not big family tents. Access to the site is on foot only, there are wheel barrow's to move your gear. Each site/pitch has a fire pit and a good size bag of wood is available to buy. There are a couple of toilets very close to the area, and washing up sinks cold water only. Down atvthe main arrival point is a small shop, with basics. Both me and my son both enjoyed our visit and will be back again.
Love the place. Tom has what I consider to be the most perfect little campsite I have visited. Once you park up and unload, you walk 5 mins down a track passing his well stocked shop and spotless shower block to arrive at what I can only describe as a magical woodland campsite with a meadow site beside. At the camp there are toilet and washing up facilities, each pitch has a fire pit, and there are plenty of BBQ's to borrow should you want one. I went last week and I'm going to try and book again for a couple of weeks.
After a last minute decision to grab my tent and get out of the city, I found Little Ropers. The woodland 'wild' camping experience was superb and allowed me to get back to nature and properly recharge. Tom and team do an amazing job offering such a genuine, yet comfortable camping experience, whilst simultaneously running the farm. The onsite shop for essentials open 24 hrs also offers a range of locally made goods food & clothing with contactless payments accepted as well as cash. The showers and toilet block were spotlessly clean and the drinking water points easily accessible and functional. The peaceful, idyllic setting made for a worthy, memorable experience. I highly recommend this wild, yet very well thought out, campsite for your next mini adventure!
Exactly what you would expect, calm, rural and a 'back to nature' feeling. We had an amazing stay, all the facilities and small store were perfect, as well as the environment the forest is really pretty, especially during flowering season! And not to forget, the owners and people working at the farm are the best you could wish for, helped us where they could to fix our "broken" down car, couldn't have wished for better. All in all, best camping experience I've ever had!
What a fabulous little gem this camp is! It was my first time solo camping in the woodland 3 nights, 4 days I'm so pleased I chose this place. I will do a more detailed review soon. Thanks to Tom and Andrew for all their help and super service. Can't wait to go back again.
Lovely campsite. The showers are very clean and smart. Incredibly helpful staff, made us very welcome, showed us around the site which includes toilets, showers, a small shop with your basics and some cows. Brilliant.
Great woodland camping nearly wild camping, perfect for hammocks and small tents. Firepit at every pitch and large bag of firewood for only £10. Highly recommended if you like being close to nature.
Great campsite, really well kept with good facilities which are all clean and work well. The location is beautiful and there's some great doable walking routes planned out by the owners - laminated maps supplied! There's also: 15p homemade buns Badgers A 600 year old Ash tree The Night Sky because it's in a dark sky area Delicious Pies Good people owning and running it Lammas A nearby Fen... It's ace.
