We camped on site and it was quiet with only a few pitches occupied, and ate/drank in the pub. The campsite is very handy and is great for a couple of nights although we wouldn't stay any longer as the amenities are a little limited. The pitches are level and a decent size, marked out with wooden stakes. It's very dog friendly with a short 15 min circular walk opposite the pub. The campsite facilities were fairly clean and tidy.
This is a fantastic pub! Out in the Suffolk countryside, this gem stands alone, surrounded by beauty. The food is fantastic, the staff are fab and the variety of drinks on offer is superb. The pub has a massive garden, a campsite, a micro brewery on-site, and attracts different food vans most weeks. Such a great location, I highly recommend a visit here. Order a pizza and a pint of Braybrooke Helles, and just enjoy the moment. Walkability: Only 2 miles from the village of Boxford. Some great walks in and around the local area.
Review of pub only We were staying at a B&B minutes away and decided to stop here for dinner. So glad we did. Thoroughly unique pub highlighted by a immense selection of beers including several brewed onsite. The staff were more than happy to recommend. Food is house-made sourdough pizza - excellent and extremely reasonable prices. On the night we were there a food truck seving burgers was also in residence. The inside was heaving with people and dogs by 6 PM, even on a weekday, so be prepared to sit outside plenty of outdoor seating or just get there early.
First camp of 2024, warm and cosy in caravan and in the pub. Good value camping fee. Our second visit and will be back again soon. Highly recommend a winter visit here, lovely selection of hot drinks including mulled cider. Huge selection of ales, local real ales as well as those from Little Earth Project microbrewery. Food choice is enough to please most, food vans on weekends, homemade sourdough pizzas, local meat and cheese platters. Friendly staff who offer great service but also make time for people, makes for a warm and inviting atmosphere. Great for the dog, extensive walks nearby and dog friendly in both bars. Staff are very accommodating and informative about the 'untamed beers'. It's a real taste adventure. Regular music events and beer festival.
Gorgeous country pub, lovely venue for my nephews outdoor wedding reception. Very pleasant staff and good selection of booze Service: 5/5
Really nice pub with camping pitches. The grass was a little long and facilities basic but all you need. The water is really hot so easy to wash and clean everything. We’d be back because the pub is so lovely and perfectly simple and delicious food in pretty surroundings.Service: 5/5
Lovely location in the countryside. A very environmentally freindly pub, brewery and campsite with solar power where practical and natural surroundings with bird feeders and other facilities encouraging wildlife. Closed Monday n Tuesday. Recommend booking a pitch and spending a couple of nights sampling a few of the many home brewed beers.
I visited the pub in September. I was disappointed. There was a large selection of beers but many were very expensive over £11 a pint and there was only one traditional UK dark beer on tap. Wetherspoons in Sudbury had a much bigger range of traditional real ales at less than £3 a pint. The food selection was very limited, the quality was disappointing, particularly the ice cream £3.40 for 100 ml, and not nice at all. Some of the facilities were not as clean as could be expected. If looking for traditional UK real ales, and decent food, avoid this place.
What an absolute gem and thank goodness it was thriving. Visited first for a beer or two and a marvellous selection on tap as well as bottles. Came back the next day to get their pizzas as a takeaway and the sourdough pizzas was lovely and even a gluten free option. Superb Food & drinks: Often food vans outside doing different things like burgers
Great pub with a nice atmosphere and really friendly and helpful staff. They’ve got a selection of their own brewed beer and serve tasty pizza and ploughman’s platters. Not busy on the Sunday we went, but it was pretty hot so everyone was probably at the beach. they’d sadly run out of the lovely pork pie I had on the previous day when I went today
