I was attended to without delay at reception and the staff member was very thorough in establishing my issue.nI waited only a short time before being called to Triage.nDALE who attended to me was so reassuring, easily building confidence in her overall approach and excellent listening skills. I felt so calm and composed and totally appreciative of my time with her.nDale is a total asset to both this Centre and MerseyCare and I trust that her significant contribution to your aims and objectives is truly valued.
Brought my 80 year-old who is housebound mother here to have her stitches removed. After waiting over two hrs for triage to be seen we was then told that there was no one there who could do it or even take her bandage off to check that the wound was okay as they’d had lots of emergencies that day. Baffling as that is the purpose of the centre. The triage nurse who was very patronising to my mother told her that her priority was the more sicker patients her words and Mum should come back at 8 in the morning. She knew by looking at my Mum that she was very frail and had very limited mobility. System really is broken and unfortunately once again the older generation are not getting the care or the treatment that they need or deserve.
My wife went here because she had a suspected broken ankle and was in significant pain.nnI was staggered by the culture of inactivity and unwillingness of staff to help anyone.nnThere was a queue of about 7 clearly sick and suffering people at reception. There were 2 receptionists one of whom just ignored everyone while she was looking at her computer screen and writing notes the whole time we were there .nnThe other receptionist was telling people that the ‘computers were down’ and they were writing details manually and couldn’t do anything , that triage would therefore be a minimum of 3 hours and they wouldn’t be able to do anything after that apart from giving advice!nnSeveral other staff came into the reception area just wandering around standing around doing nothing for about 15 minutes just looking at the queue of sick people and doing nothing . So there were at least 5 or 6 staff in the reception area just looking at sick people in the queue like they were exhibits in a zoo. It was bizarre.nnThere was no attempt by anyone for the 20 minutes or so that we were there to help anyone at all.nnWhy couldn’t they just speak to their fellow human beings and ask what was wrong with them and try and help them ?nnIn the end we left in total bewilderment , drove to the Sefton suite in blundellsands , saw a receptionist straight away and asked if we could have an X-ray , the receptionist was extremely helpful and said she could arrange one straight away with a gp referral which we could get by phoning the doctor explaining symptoms and asking for a referral , which we did and the receptionist arranged an X-ray to be done within 15 minutes .nnThe contrast between the Sefton Suite and the Litherland walk in centre was like night and day.nnThe Litherland Walk in centre was an absolute disgrace. It should be closed down or staff replaced by people who want to work there and help people.
I would give a zero if I could. I went with my daughter who has suffered with knee pain for 6 months now. We have just been to a wedding in Ireland for the last 2 days when her knee has given way under her she has spent the last 2 days in a wheelchair. Suffering a lot of pain we decided to ring 111 she was told she had an appointment at 1.30pm to talk about pain relief and she should contact her doctor monday regarding an xray. We turned up at 1.25pm and was told there may be a wait it was advertised as a 3 hour wait for assessment. We thought we had an appointment to see a clinician but my daughter had to go through triage in pain and discomfort and mental anxiety from being unable to mobilise. She was told by the triage nurse there were more needy people than her so she would have to wait. I mentioned to him that I thought there may be some pre judgement on weight being made here. He agreed and said yes there is a degree of clinical pre judgement on weight. He advised me to write to PALS if I wasn't happy and to go out and wait. We waited 2 and a half hours to be told put a hot water bottle on it and see your GP Monday. So my poor daughter has to suffer pain and indignities of being wheelchair bound at 50 years old until she can finally get an xray. 111 is a waste of time appointments are non existent and walk in staff were not helpful at all
I was dealt with by Kelly on Monday evening. She was amazing. I was worried and anxious about the symptoms I had, but she put my mind at rest immediately. She was reassuring and I was given a hospital appointment the following day. She even called me earlier today to see how I was. She went above and beyond to make sure I was ok. I can’t thank her enough. Thanks again Kelly, you’re in the right job. Xx
