What a great little gem. This vineyard has been here for around 30 years growing on hill field. Had a great conversation with the owner on the background of wine making, his wines and how best to serve and enjoy them. It's a working vineyard so don't go expecting a 'tasting room'. You can taste and enjoy the great wine on offer and you do so in the place where the wine magic happens. Which in my opinion is all the better for it. The wine is lovely, he accepts card. Yorkshire wine. Go get it. :
Wonderful wine. Known of it for years but never visited. Superb wine .
One of Leeds' best-kept secrets! I've been coming here for a couple of years now and it's a real delight talking to the owner about his life and experience with wine and the industry, all while sampling wines you probably won't believe were harvested less than 100 yards away from you. I'm not a connoisseur by any standard, but with the variety you can find here, you'd be hard pushed not to find at least a couple of bottles that take your fancy. It's a very special thing to enjoy local wine from your own city in this country, something a lot of people in the world take for granted. Now you can have the same right on your doorstep without the flights!
George is very knowledgeable of wine and wine production. He explained each of the vineyards wines and how to make a good sparkling wine . Due to COVID 19 we could not taste the wines but I bought a selection of Red , whites , and sparkling wines . I had a glass of the Seyval white with my dinner . It was a light delicate wine that carried aromas and a taste of lemons and would of been excellent with fish . I had a bottle of the West Riding Red . This was another delicate wine with a nice amount of tannin . Best opened an hour or 2 before taking . It reminded me of a Teroldego from the Dolomites . Lovely wine and not too strong at 11.5 percent . I’m looking forward to the other sparking and whites . Highly recommend a trip to see George .
Unusual grape varieties. Traditional artisanal methods of wine making and a knowledgeable host. Charming place. Bought some white wine, a red wine and a bottle of not allowed to call it champagne. Looking forward to opening them in a few years and remembering the lovely morning amongst a Yorkshire vineyard and enjoying the wine
Didn't want to leave a bad review but letting customers stand outside while you discuss your "thousands of stories " instead of getting on with the job is not good service. Stood for 15 minutes at least while the owner recited tales from his past to the couple in front of us buying. Halfway through one story he turned and asked if I was in a rush. I replied that I was really so he said he would just finish off this story and would finish off the sale. Wasn't having that so just left . I like rapport between sales and customer but that was ridiculous
Great Yorkshire wine not our first visit and certainly not our last, educational visit transporting product on a missionary trip down south for the relatives.
Passed by on our way home from Temple Newsam it was a real surprise to see the vines.Luckly the owner was there and we bought a bottle of white winenot opened it yet so don't know what it's like
Beautiful setting and superb wines made by a true expert.
Beautiful vineyard estate with many varied fine wines to be discovered...
