We arrived to an empty house and no-one to greet us. The owner rolled up in his van drunk. We were then subjected to an hour's worth of the proprietor's life story whilst standing in our bedroom waiting to unpack and put the kids to bed. It was now 9pm. Finally at 10pm we managed to shake him off and settled down for the night with a cup of tea - the milk was off so we turned in for the night. The mattress was so bad we barely slept. The sponginess of the thing was one thing but the razor sharp springs in our upper backs was another. Could things get any worse? (Don't get me started on the carpets.....) Breakfast and the landlord still drunk and proceeded to stand over us and two other poor guests at breakfast whilst we tried to eat. I was ready to swing for him. Then (over my cup of tea) he proceeded to talk about shooting animals on his land..........enough! Why we didn't do a moonlight flit i just don't know - oh yes we had 2 kids....and a ruined break. On the upside, superb location and great walks. I think the above review is an inside job and i hope they are reading mine.

Great nights stay, lovely surroundings and a welcoming atmosphere with helpful service from the owners. Very good value for money. I recommend it!

Perfect relaxing break at Lea Farm. Charming farm house and a great welcome. Set in beautiful gardens amongst the lovely Cheshire countryside. Highly recommended.
