Look good but service non-existent! I always hope it would improve because the cafe looks stylish and the food packaging is nice but as soon as you sit down you remember why you should not go there! No one cares. I don't think they know if they want to be a tiny deli or actually running a cafe.
Amongst all the cafes in London, The Grocer is at the bottom of the list. Never in my life have I been so many times to a place, hoping that it would improve, to just experience a consistently bad and charmless service with an unwelcoming and unfriendly atmosphere. No smiles, no hellos or thank yous, and most of all, no apologies whatsoever for all that this place fails to offer. The staff don't know where they are, nor the names of the produce or what's on the menu, they don't seem have any interest in their job, the shop or their customers. No matter how clearly you have said you want toasts, or a soup, the bread will come untoasted without a knife or butter, and they will tell you that they have no more soup because the stuff rush to get rid of the soups very early so it is one less thing to serve. The coffee saucer will come swimming in coffee and the cup all spilt, and only if you complain they may clear the coffee from the saucer but will bring the same dirty cup. There are also none of the usual amenities that one would expect to find in a London cafe such as wifi and respect for the needs of the customers. If you ask for anything the answer is generally no. Please please go away from Kings's Road so the space can be taken by professional people who know what they are doing and how to please their customers. The neighbors of Chelsea and Battersea would truly appreciate this gesture.
The food is always fantastic. There has yet to be something I haven't enjoyed. I will ususally go in for a quick lunch or to pickup some of their prepared foods for dinner. I think this is more of a deli/ low key cafe so don't expect spectacular waiting service however the staff is cordial and fine. The highlight is that food is fantstic . I recommend.
Wandered in yesterday to be greeted definitely not greeted by a woman mopping with her headphones in, and a man doing a stock count, neither of whom acknowledged us until we were leaving, empty-handed. If they were closed for business they weren't they need to make it clearer on the door. Probably need to work on that.
A nice canteen for lunch. It clearly needs improvement music, POS system but the food is very good and the service quick. It would help if the manager was more present? Benjamin
Work around this shop and every day during my break I go there to taste the excellent coffee and cakes . The staff is friendly and polite
