An amazing experience! The dishes were rich in flavour and the level between classic and contemporary was just right! The chicken pasta dish was very flavourful and the pigeon was cooked well. The pear sabayon and shortbread dessert I chose instead of cheese was very satisfying and pleasantly rich. The alcoholic drinks were reasonably priced as well. Meeting Michel Roux Jr. himself and getting a photograph and a signed menu was a great experience. I will miss this restaurant a lot. It's such a shame to see it close after having been open for nearly 60 years and having such an amazing history and role in the British fine dining scene. Keeping 2 Michelin stars for over 30 years is a sign of excellence and determination. I wish I had been able to go more times over the years. I had a fabulous meal both times I dined here! Thank you for the excellent food and hospitality. Wishing all staff the best of luck in their new jobs and Michel Roux Jr. a happy and relaxing time with his family and friends! Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian menu.
I was so excited for this visit having only been to a restaurant with more than one Michelin star once before but it being possibly the best overall restaurant experience I've ever had but wound up a bit disappointed and questioning the Michelin guide after having a few disappointing one and now two/three after this vacation star experiences over the last year. There is no doubt the food is good and the meat is impeccably cooked. But made me "wow," which, given the final costs, I'd definitely have expected. The staff also seemed a bit snobby rather than friendly. If you asked me if the experience was worth it, I'd say no. I believe our money could have been better spent at other experiences elsewhere.
Such a lovely restaurant. Wonderful service. Nicely casual but formal enough staff members were really charming. The food was superb. The homemade sourdough was so nice we all wanted to buy and take home. We had such a great time dining here.Food: 5/5
A justifiably celebrated old dame of a place. Our first visit must alas be our last but we were so glad to have made it there. Impeccable from start to finish - service, food, ambience and a chat with Michel Roux jr. What a place. Will be sadly missed.Food: 5/5
Come with friend to try their exceptional tasting menu, with wine pairing. Food presentation is good and taste delicious. You can feel the ingredients are very fresh. The cheese soufflé as the first course really amazing! Btw, very Impressive cheese trolley for cheese addict like me Servers are all very nice and friendly with a little bit sense of humour. Very attentive and check on you only on the right timing. Pleasure to meet Michel Roux Jr in person while he come out to say hello to every table. Overall a very enjoyable evening! Definitely deserve Michelin 2 stars
I had the great opportunity to celebrate my birthday at this restaurant/experience unforgettable. It was incredible, and the food was just spectacular. I also would like to highlight the team that makes the whole experience incredible. I had the opportunity to meet Michel Roux, who was incredibly kind and attentive; what a night, what an experience, what a joy.
This was my second time at Le Gavroche and it was just as special as the first. The service is impeccable, staff are friendly, thoughtful and knowledgeable about the food and drink. Nothing is too much for them. The food is outstanding, flavour bomb after flavour bomb. The portions aren't super huge but every bite is packed with flavour. Plus there are small bites in addition to the main meals, as well as delicious, freshly baked bread. It's quite a cosy atmosphere with dimmed lighting and sufficient space between the tables so that it doesn't feel over-crowded. A couple of differences from the first visit which didn't take away from the overall experience, but we're noticeable were; having the price on all of the menus last time only the 'host' could see the prices, also, there was an amazing non-alcoholic cocktail called Eponine which they no longer do. They didn't seem to have any set non alcoholic cocktails BUT the sommelier was happy to mix a cocktail based to any key ingredients and also made some lovely recommendations. In addition, a lovely sweet treat was brought out as a surprise for my husband's birthday. Once again an amazing experience from start to finish. Thank you.
Total brilliant, lovely atmosphere we felt completely at home the staff are fully attentive and engaging taking time to have various chats with us from the welcome at the door to the good bye service was perfect, friendly & characterful the food is 12/10 the best we’ve had it really was the next level above what we’ve had at other top restaurants. The overall experience with food and service added up to be exceptional, something to be very proud of well done and thank you to all the staff. Can’t wait to come back.
We enjoyed a wonderful tasting menu pair with wine here for a 40th birthday. Loved how they’ve made a beautiful townhouse into a cosy dining room, the welcome from the twins, the atmosphere, the decor was spot on. Like walking from the London streets, through a beautiful door to travel briefly to France for a lovely dining experience. The food and wine is very well executed and served, as expected from a double Michelin restaurant. Staff were great, attentive, yet busy, ensuring our glasses were not empty. A recommend for a wonderful dining experience. Some may need to save money for but it is worth the memory with good companions who enjoy food. Even our beer drinking friend enjoyed his wines! Whilst our other friend seemed to hoover his plate from the deliciousness of the food.
One of the best meal experiences i have ever had. From start to finish the whole experience from the staff to the chefs making our incredible meal was brilliant. Great ambience and funky decor. The tasting menu was so incredibly tasty the flavours were out of this world. The trout especially was a highlight.
