I really liked it. Quirky and the food not too heavy. I would have given it five stars. However, I found that where most places will give you a pot of tea, they served in mugs. That’s fine, but when asking if I could have more hot water in the mug as there was enough milk and sugar for a second cup, I still had the tea bag, a good teapigs one, I was told they charged for more hot water. That was a shame really. I did enjoy the food, it was falafel with hummus and salad that I had. The deserts all seemed reasonable at £3.95. They seemed to be all ice cream based, some premade and then scoops of various flavours were on offer. £2.95 for two or £3.95 for three. I had chocolate, pistachio and then apricot yogurt flavours. They were all very nice. Aside from the cafe, it seems to be on the middle of a quirky shop with an upstairs as well.
Deli cafe and shop. Good selection of sandwiches, sausage rolls etc and some great cakes.. their chocolate brownie is a personal favourite
This is a lovely quirky cafe where you can buy interesting objects upstairs. The food was delicious and different to most cafés. Nice choice of salads and interesting menu. You can't book tables for lunch but you can if you've booked a special high tea. They looked good too. They cater for gluten and diary free. Worth a visit.
It seems that every time I come here, there is less seating for the coffee shop and more space for the gift shop. The seating has become less family/child friendly and the menu more basic. I used to absolutely love coming here for breakfast or lunch, it was an asset to the village, but it continues to marginalise it's target audience. I can't fault the lovely cake and friendly staff though which is why I've given it 2 stars.
Great coffee and snacks and friendly staff. Plenty of outdoor seating. Just can't understand why so few other cyclists come here as it's well located for roadies and mtbs. Probs needs better signage to be visible. Come and support this place.
Gorgeous shop full of lovely stuff, and a generously packed salty bacon sandwich, but coffee was awful! I had a decaf cappuccino and it was the most bitter, burnt coffee I have had in a long time even two sugars didn't take the edge off. I did mention it to the very nice server but was met with the response "that's very odd, no-one else has ever said anything and lots of people have decaf". It made me feel as if there was something wrong with me! It turns out the server doesn't actually drink coffee, so I asked her to make the exact same coffee for a coffee drinking colleague and see if they noticed anything. She didn't give me the impression she would bother following up on this request, so unfortunately it means I likely won't be going there again - I like my coffee smooth and made with love!
My husband and I have been regular visitors here for years and have always loved it! The food is a little pricey but has always been good for us and we're picky, the one occasion that I did have an issue with my meal it was rectified quickly without hassle! I now have an 8month old baby and have breastfed her at the table since her birth and have never had an issue... Nor have I ever seen a sign requesting I do otherwise. The staff are friendly and helpful too! Only down is that the drinks can be a tad slow... So best to order your drinks while you choose your food!
I haven't been here for quite a while and whilst the interior remains the same format in terms of being a mug of restuarant and boutique shop, I felt that the food options and quality were not the same. The only menu is on the chalkboard and I had the turkey sandwich which had very little turkey in it and it is the wafer thin type and not breast of turkey from a roast. My family had a mix of toasted sandwiches and they said they were good. I had lemon cake afterwards and that was nice. Note that they cannot serve food too you outside due to lack of insurance they told me so you 6 have to have everything in take-away boxes and cups - even your tea!
Came here for afternoon tea for three of us. Lovely mix of food...sandwiches, quiche and dips followed by second course of a good array of cakes. Staff were very friendly and attentive, filling up our tea when needed.
Went out of the way to come here as a treat on a friend's advice. Found the service in the cafe quite rude, although Peter was fantastic and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. We went up after 20mins and politely asked if we'd been forgottenwe were sat in front of the desk. We were told we should have told them earlier and that "just as a little tip, if you come back, and there's no tickets on the front of the coffee machine, your orders been forgotten", don't worry, we probably won't be back.
