We've stay for a week every August and it's usually in a Milkwood lodge. Milkwood over looking the estary was nice as are the Milkwoods top right on the map as quiet and kids zone was well equipped with outdoor heated pool. This year has been very different. Into day 2 of a week's stay in Wilde 48 and its a lovely lodge and ok view partially blocked by trees. However, it suffers from loud road noise thanks to bedrooms facing onto the main through road and there being zero sound proofing in these lodge designs. Its also the avenue with dog friendly lodges so expect lots of lazy owners allowing their dogs to bark outside for hours. I've literally just had to go and ask the lodge behind us to put their yapping Dachshund indoors as its 9pm and been yapping at everything for the past 2 hours, keeping my kids awake. Sad to discover the kids zone has been dismantled tent with games and circus tricks has been taken down and the outdoor pool is no longer heated. We were so disappointed as getting into the main pool with kids is now by pre booking only for very limited time slots. Had a faulty toaster in our lodge, two maintenance guys turned up, without asking, walked through the lodge with their shoes on and into the bedrooms opening wardrobes to look for the switch board which is in the kitchen as didn't believe us that the toaster had blown, not the fuse, even when we said the kettle worked in the same plug sockets and then proved it, so odd. Did get a toaster in the end but it was like a comedy of errors. We won't be coming back for a 4th year. Shame as was a family favourite.
Simply stunning views of the welsh countryside and coastline. Extremely quiet and picturesque location. Located on the estuary and elevated on the hills of the estuary shores you get a magnificent view of the sea. We stayed in ome of the ‘Ferry Hills’ Lodges which was set over two floors with a bedroom on each, both with en suites. It is self catering with all the relevant utilities also has a dishwasher and washing machine. Open living/dining/kitchen area that has access to a balcony with outdoor dining table. The lodge is beautifully designed with great facilities.nnThere is free access to the spa pool, gym, inifinity pool style hot tub and there is an on site restaurant which varies day to day. The food was exceptional!nnIt is a very short walk to Laugharne, which has it’s own castle and is famed for being the late home of the poet Dylan Thomas. There are local shops, pubs and restaurants in the town.nnSupermarkets are further afield and are around a 15-20 min drive minimum to get there.nnThere are some basic cleaning items left in the lodge a fee dishwasher tablets, washing liquid and cloth. I would have liked some small items provided such as salt and pepper, small sauces and jams etc otherwise you are buying/bringing big jars and if you are travelling a long way it means having to purchase them just for the trip and if you are only there for a few days it seems wasteful.nnIt was extremely hot and no fans were present in the lodge and it would have been nice to have been told this so we could have brought our own but once we got all the windows open and the air circulating it cooled down overnight.nnCheck in is 1600, check out is 1000.nnThere is also an on site concierge that can collect you and drive you around as the site is quite hilly for some.nnThere are several different options to choose from for the lodges, some of which have hot tubs.nnI would definitely stay here again
The resort unfortunately is NOT child friendly. The swim times I was emailed had apparently changed so my granddaughter was refused entry at 4.40pm even though swim times had been changed to 3-5 pm. I was emailed adult swim times of between 10-2 and family either side of that, staff told this that this needed to be changed via admin but still refused us. So a very disappointed little girl nWe passed a short while after to go to the beach and the pool was completely empty, just 2 people in the hydro pool, they certainly do not encourage children to this resort at all. A member of staff told me that they concentrate on the spa day packages and these customers have complained about children being there, this is the reason for the change. Family times are now 8.30am-10am and 3-5 so very restrictive. Also you can never book a space to go there as the members/spa days have already booked the morning sessions leaving nothing left for families anyway. We managed 1visit in 5 days. The resort is beautiful, lodges are great, peaceful and a lovely area however if you are travelling with children then prepare to be disappointed after spending a huge amount of money to stay there. If you just want a base and not the use of the spa you will be fine although the resort is steep and hilly for younger children or people with mobility issues.nOur first visit back in February was great apart from paying members of the spa moaning in the changing areas that holidaymakers should be restricted to certain times as they paid monthly to join, we were made to feel uncomfortable on 2 occasions but we still revisited in May thinking it was just an off day.nUnfortunately not, not sure if I would revisit unless it was a spa free visit, there should be a price option to omit this as you cannot book in anyway ‍
On behalf of all the London girls in Cabin 7, we would like to say what a fantastic weekend we had at the resort.nnThe accommodation was lovely, comfortable, and spotlessly clean throughout our stay. The food in the restaurant was absolutely impeccable—10/10, with not a single fault to mention.nnWe would also like to give a very special shout-out to Doug. From the moment we checked in, you were absolutely brilliant—always smiling, knowledgeable, welcoming, and on hand whenever we needed help. Nothing was ever too much trouble.nnYou are a real asset to the company, and your exceptional customer service made our stay that extra bit special.nnThank you for helping create such a memorable and enjoyable weekend. nnP.s sorry we didn’t see you this morning when we were checking out to say see you next year.
Fantastic day at the spa for my wife's birthday, had a few hours in the spa itself, then an amazing treatment, and then some lunch, which was beautiful. We then went back down to the spa for an hour which unfortunately had gone over to family time, and we were joined by screaming kids, jumping in and out of the pool and throwing ice around the place, it took the edge off the day. I would return, but only during adult hours 1100-1500.
