Thanks Julia and Allan for a lovely warm welcome and for looking after us this weekend. Our room was much bigger than expected and spotlessly clean. Loved the toiletries and cafetiere for coffees. Breakfast next to the fire thismorning was amazing. Can't wait to come back!
Cannot rate this place enough - fit us in for Xmas dinner at last minute and it was fantastic. Alan is absolutely amazing and definitely the hostess with the mostess not sure what the guys equivalents are!. The food is absolutely lush and it’s dog friendly too - didn’t take ours as they’re not well behaved enough. Thank you so much Alan and team for making our Christmas very special xx
Very welcoming public house with good accommodation! Room I stayed in was brilliant, modern and a fridge with fresh milk and filter coffee. Felt at home with the staff Lorna and the guy who I didn't catch name, fireman, very chatty would highly recommend and would definitely stop again! 100% top marks for service and rooms!
Really great pub, very friendly staff and lovely food. Just sad we found it on the last night of our holiday.
I went one week day with my Granddaughter as a treat and was so disappointed. The food was awful. I had the lamb rump and it was served in a bowl. Everything piled in . Very small portions . The lamb was all fat and gristle the veg was soggy and over cooked and the orange gravy was more like brown orange juice. My granddaughter had the steak and it wasn't cooked correctly and was the cheapest they could probably get and she wouldn't eat it. I gave my order and they got it wrong and even when it came back it was still wrong. The coffee was terrible and was cloudy. I payed nearly £40 for the worst meal in my life. I complained to no avail. The staff stand and slag off the management between themselves when customers are there. Overall the worst experience I've ever had. I had to pay for more food on the way home as what we had was bad and insignificant.
Very friendly welcome from the staff. Had not booked and took a chance on a table being free and staff went out of their way to find us a table. Lovely pub with excellent value food and drink on the menu. Great menu with lots of options. Had the steak burger with bacon, very filling and tasty. Chips were excellent. Black Sheep beer was great. Will definitely recommend and return.
Jus got back from a 3 night stay, lovely room, and very friendly staff. They had a little issue with the chef, so had to get breakfast from the bakers and come back for coffee or tea, wasn't a huge issue it happens. But Heidi's full English was lovely . Will definitely stay again thankyou
Had a lovely walk around Cragside park and was feeling hungry pulled into a lovely pub The Queens Head greeted by a lovely gentleman who was very friendly and welcoming, service was prompt we had a cold drink, a beautiful Sunday Lunch followed by apple and blackberry crumble all food was hot and very very tasty. Thank you for a great lunch
A wonderful welcome to the town! We arrived for the first day of a short break just in dinner time and looking back I am glad we found The Queens Head. Sanitisers were available by the door and customers were encouraged to clean hands before walking in the restaurant. We have guided a table for 4 and tables had dividers strategically place to maintain social distancing. A wide selection of traditional British dishes was available on the menu. There was also a specials menu which the staff could have made us aware of but we weren’t disappointed by the food we ordered. We decided to take for all of our food to come together and ordered creamy mushrooms, portion chips, chicken strips which with a portion of chips with its self and chicken with haggis cooked in peppercorn sauce, and all of the food was just delicious. The creamy sauce with mushroom was memorable, chicken strips were freshly cooked and well battered. It was the first time my daughter was having haggis, and she absolutely loved it. Along with all the great food, the chips felt ordinary. The dessert is what made me give 5-star for my rating. I have yet to a rocky road which melts in the mouth, disappointed I didn’t order that for myself and had to rely on my daughters will to share her delicious dessert. I ordered Biscoff Cheesecake, which was one of a kind too and comes highly recommended. If you are in town, don’t leave without eating here.
Slightly disappointing place to eat, limited one page printed menu with many items crossed off! After being seated at 7:20, we were told that last orders are 7:30. This was on a Thursday night in September! Disappointing on our first visit to Rothbury. However, the Italian restaurant almost opposite was a much better experience, buzzing on a Saturday night, and open later. Would not revisit The Queens Head.
