Lahpet

About

Bringing Burmese cuisine to London.
Restaurant at 58 Bethnal Green Rd, E1 6JW & Street Food Kitchen at Old Spitalfields Market, E1 6EW.

Story

Myanmar (Burma) is one of the only prominent Asian countries with a rich and diverse culinary heritage that remains untapped in the Western world. The country’s keystone position in South East Asia provides for a fantastically varied yet unique cuisine with strong influences from India, Thailand and China. With the country swiftly emerging from decades of oppression, and with more international attention than ever before, Dan, (who has Burmese heritage) and Burmese Chef, Zaw, have established Lahpet, with the ambition of making Burmese food popular and accessible.

We plan to bring Burmese cuisine to the fore by focusing on and refining those dishes that are ubiquitous across Myanmar. We will also be taking a more contemporary approach by exploring the use and pairing of a wide array of indigenous ingredients in order to offer our guests more innovative dishes – all executed with a touch of finesse and plenty of passion.

Building upon our success at Maltby Street Market in 2016, Lahpet is now welcoming guests at it's new home in London Fields; we hope you'll come and visit us soon.

Absolutely outstanding meal. We knew it was good by how busy it always is but we were blown away when we finally made it. All the dishes were fabulous, the staff amazing and very covid secure
Lahpet is always such a pleasure. The food is delectable. They bring the best out of Burmese food. The cocktails are very creative. Lahpet easily is the best kept secret of London food scene right now. Add to that, the service is spectacularly good.
Delicious Burmese meal in Shoreditch. Was very excited to try Lahpet as I've heard good things and wasn't disappointed. The food was delicious with very interesting flavours I've not had in London before. We had a nice seat at the bar and the service was friendly. The cocktails are delicious as well!
The vibe is upscale fun the music great. Burmese is a nice go between Thai and Vietnamese. Moorish Flavours I have never had in properly substantial portions . Could eat here every week.
Nice lunch, friendly staff. I like the decor, zen and green. The menu is quite intriguing with some interesting dishes, we had the fish curry and tofu noodles with fritters and a salad as appetizers. Nice selection of cocktails too.
This restaurant is one of my favourites in London, it's very simple food done so well, and the presentation is great. For me, seasoning is key, and they get it spot on. Really lovely ambience, and friendly staff. If you want something a bit different try here, you won't be disappointed. The fried bream, and curry's are amazing.
