Nice woodland with great views on a clear day but tough walking conditions that are unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. The paths can be steep, slippery and muddy. Good footwear is recommended even in summer. There are handrails on a few of the slopes but not all. We didn't see any litter or dog fouling which was very refreshing. Recommended if you are both reasonably fit and mobile.
Full of wonderful old trees, view from the top at the tower was lovely too, doggo loved it! A little slippy and muddy in areas, the hike up gets the lungs opened up!
An energetic 30 minute hike takes you from either Killynether or Scrabo car park around the loop, mainly through 19th century deciduous woodland. Great views from the top section especially at sunset, to the south mournes and west belfast. Rough underfoot to the west and north side and narrow in parts. Good footwear recommended. Public toilets at Scrabo car park, see website for opening hours. Picnic tables in top car park and in the old walled garden, formerly belonging to Killynether House, demolished c 1970s
Steep climbs but stunning views
Some stunning trees, especially veteran hazel and an extensive hazel coppice. Access could be improved in places.
Great place for a short walk in nature. Nice views.
Lovely walk. Hard to follow the yellow route, just saw one sign at the beginning
What a place to go for walks! Kids love it! Bit of PT cardio!!!!
Great walk for everyone and great for dogs. Also a bit of easy climbing
A short forest walk on a circular route with great views from the viewing point at the highest point. Hand rails have been recently added to make the uphill bits easier and safer. There's not much in terms of amenities. Just a car park and some picnic tables, but no toilets. Entry is free.
