There’s something reassuringly municipal about Kendal Bus Station. It’s not trying to be glamorous, or modern, or even particularly clean — it’s just there, like a dependable aunt who still keeps a tin of travel sweets in her handbag.nnThe buses themselves arrive with the weary dignity of old Labradors, sighing to a halt as if they’ve seen too much of the A6. The drivers, stoic and philosophical, could easily be mistaken for minor characters in a Bennett monologue — the sort who’ve “been doing this run since before the bypass, love,” and who know every pothole personally.nnInside, the waiting area has that faint smell of damp coats and optimism. There’s a vending machine that dispenses both crisps and existential reflection, and a timetable board that seems to have been designed by someone with a deep mistrust of clarity.nnBut there’s a charm to it all. Pensioners discuss the price of fish, teenagers pretend not to be cold, and someone always drops a coin that rolls dramatically under a bench, never to be seen again. The pigeons, of course, are the true locals — strutting about like they own the place, occasionally joining the queue for the 555 to Lancaster.nnAnd when your bus finally arrives, there’s a small, satisfying sense of triumph — as though you’ve successfully navigated one of life’s minor bureaucracies. You climb aboard, nod to the driver, and think, yes, this is what civilisation looks like: a timetable, a shelter, and a shared understanding that we’re all just trying to get somewhere.nn — A masterpiece of quiet British endurance, with seating.
It has very nice car park planty of spaces available, to go around kandel area, it is best place to park your car.
Efficient bus station buses on time very spacious
Not good, the driver left 1 minute before the scheduled time and I lost my bus so I give it 1 star.
It's a bus station not alot to say.
