Mountain Warehouse now occupy the ground floor and kitchenware has moved to the top floor. Still a good range of quality items available. We used the restaurant and had very reasonably priced good quality lunches with wonderful views.
I don't live in Bude but always make a point of visiting Wroes when I do. Their ladies clothing always has a good selection that is frequently refreshed. Love the little restaurant with its amazing views. The staff are friendly and helpful. For a smaller sized department store I can still usually find what I need.
16th September 2021 Updating my previous review and delighted to say that even as massive High Street names have disappeared Wroes goes from strength to strength. Same fantastic service and immaculate presentation and of course the restaurant is still outstanding. I can recommend the delicious locally sourced free range eggs on granary toast. Keep up the good work Michael Wonderful restaurant on first floor with great views out to sea. The staff are helpful, friendly and welcoming the food is tasty and not at all overpriced. My particular favourite is the Double Scrambled Egg on toast with a pot of tea for a fiver! The store has a little bit of Grace Brother's about it but only in the most positive way. Good quality merchandise at reasonable prices delivered by knowledgeable staff. Keep up the good work. 18th December update Taking a little break from some Christmas shopping in my favourite department store and in the restaurant with the best view in Cornwall added to that the amazing staff and the food is delicious, pictures added Michael
Still a very good none chain department store offering premium products. Has had a remodel, mountain warehouse now occupy the base level. Overall the store is, in my view, less attractive than it was as the range seems more restricted. Staff are attentive and helpful. Has a nice cafe on the top floor along with toilets. Good range from boots to underwear to kitchenware. Nice feel to store, recommended.
I didn't go shopping in wroses but I went to the cafe, so i can't tell you what the shopping experience was like, but from what I have seen going to the cafe is you may need re- mortgage your home, they are very expensive. The cafe, on the other hand, has lots of space, and you can take your dog up their with you, the view is lovely as you are looking out over summerleze beach. The price of food is expensive for what you get, I had a jacket potato with prawns, and the jacket came out with little to no butter and about 2 tablespoons of prawns, now for £13 I think, don't quote me on the price as I am not 100% sure if that was its correct price, but i know it was very close, I was expecting a bit bigger of a jacket or at least another handful of prawns, their was a lady sat behind me she had a toastie, but it didn't look tosted at all it looked like they slapped ham and melted cheese into a bit of bread, I did ask for a vegetarian chilli as they did have chilli on the board but they don't do the veg option, i was a little annoyed with this I suppose you could have the jackets plain if you are a vegetarian or you could have the side garnish but that's about it. In my experience I was not happy with my afternoon meal, but this should not put you off going up their for a cuppa tea and look out the windows that run along one wall of the building in the cafe. Ohh lady's one more thing the building next door is adventure International, they seem to have alot of sexy men on their roof fixing some thing most of the time, it's like watching Magic Mike but in person, except they don't strip : Thanks for reading
Lovely café upstairs. Shame about the expensiveoverpriced imho clothes from named brands. They used to sell their own brand, which was good quality at fair prices.
Had a lovely lunch in the café. It's a great store and the staff are very friendly. Great customer service. I always go in for a visit when on holiday in North Devon.
Nice little hidden gem coffee shop, love that it’s dog friendly!
very good selection of clothing and accessories for the home. Friendly and helpful staff
Sunday lunchtime four of us with 2 dogs were looking for somewhere to eat. We have never been to Bude before so we had no local knowledge of restaurants that allow dogs in. By chance we saw someone coming out of Wroes with a dog and asked if they allowed dogs in the restaurant. Affirmative was the answer. We had a superb roast beef lunch and an excellent cup of tea. The staff were friendly, polite and efficient. Thank you and well done Wroes, you made our day
