My husband and I visited England this summer through advanced astral projection after years of practice. This was the store that allowed us the best target. Something about shoes and feet are really attractive to spirits and this store has the bountiful selection and stock necessary for exploring the English country in the spirit realm. The husband felt right at home amongst the shoe leather as he's a cattle farmer. Well, in several alternate realities at least. I have a deep disdain for shoes in general but our connection to the English countryside, shoe leather and fine consumer capitalism make our Astral Projections easy. For any other Astral Travelers, this place is high on our list of recommended visits.
Had a pretty uncomfortable experience with staff, will not be returning. I walked into the store and one of the ladies at the till gave me a funny look. Rather impolite, but I can deal with that. I purchased the Irongrip-708s, which are fantastic, no complaints there! It was just that after I purchased them and started walking out that I heard the woman say something about me being "one of those fruitcakes". I was taken aback. First and foremost, I am a PERSON. Referring to me as a relatively unpleasant dessert is dehumanizing and frankly a bit rude as well. I know personally that customer service is a difficult job, but that's really no excuse to stoop down to the base level of baked goods-based insults. Unfortunately, it was worse than just that. When I was seven years old, a stale fruitcake fell from the pantry shelf and slammed into my head. It knocked me out cold, and I had to be rushed to the hospital. I suffered a serious concussion and memory loss. Until now I remembered nothing about that night... but when I looked back in shock at the insult, I saw her. It was the woman who had brought the cake to my grandmother's Christmas party that fateful afternoon.... She was looking at me, smiling at my distress. Her eyes were so cold. She knew it was me. I'd swear my life on it. I ran out of that shop, trying desperately not to cry. Felt genuinely awful the whole rest of the day, and I honestly don't think I'll ever be comfortable going back to that establishment, at least not when that womanI believe her name tag said Deborah is working a shift.
I’ve just been into Shoezone in Barnstaple, and received excellent service from the manageress, Debbie. Debbie, assisted me in getting my sister a pair of boots and training shoes. My sister has difficulty in walking and needed a lot of help and attention, Debbie did her best to accommodate us and helped me with my sister in choosing and fitting various styles and types. A real credit to the company and both my sister and I would be happy to return to that shop as a result of the products and great service. Thank you.
Pretty decent shop has plenty of shoes for choice and the staff are helpful
