If any restaurants need to show their staff how customer service is done, visit The Jolly Farmer! Great customer service. Couldn't have been more helpful. Food is a good mix of British pub food with a Thai food menu which works really well. Not full of dish after dish, that isn't needed. Just a good balance and the food was excellent. All the variety of drinks you could ask for and outdoor seating as well. Try it for yourself and help them make it a success.
Amazing transformation after the renovation, especially the outside area - there’s nowhere better to be on a sunny afternoon. Food was decent for the price and service very good so no complaints whatsoever. Visited on a Sunday and although we weren’t wanting the roast, our menu didn’t feature it which could be confusing to others as I know they do offer it. Maybe there are different physical menus? Anyway, will be returning again soon
We were recommended to eat here and the whole experience of the good food, hospitality, ambiance and beautiful setting far exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be returning and can whole-heartedly recommend this beautiful venue. Thank you to The Jolly Farmer team!
We went yesterday for dinner. We suppose to go to a different pub and since that pub was closed, we drove to Jolly Farmer. It was our first time visiting this pub. As soon as we arrived, the staff greet us and told us they do serve dinner. We wanted to try their Thai food as thay have promoted in Woodley Community Facebook group sometime back. To our surprise, the Thai food was amazing and tasted so authentic. Honestly, we went to the pub without any expectation but we are very pleased with their Thai Food. Moreover, the staff and the boss were very friendly and welcoming. In fact, they told us later that went we arrived they actually closed the kitchen at 7pm but they never wanted to disappoint us and the chef agreed to cook for us. Very pleased, felt welcoming and will definately go back espeacialy to try out the remaining Thai dishes in the menu. Highly recommend this lovely and family friendly pub.
Lovely Thai food and plentiful portions. Had the Thai Green Curry and it was spot on albeit a little mild and no doubt made that way for an English pallet. Next the I shall ask for a proper Thai amount of chilli. Will go back and eat there again for sure. Looks like a HUGE area out back, must be cranking in the summer. Recommended.
We had a lovely Thai meal at the jolly farmer. The food was so hot when served, we actually had to let it cool a little before eating, this had not been sat on the pass getting cold at all, and was full of flavour. Generous portions and the waiting service was fantastic. Our waiter was able to answer all/any of our questions and was refreshingly knowledgeable about the menu and the ingredients used. He was also very friendly and took the time to make general conversation with us and other tables which made us feel very welcome. All in all it was a lovely dining experience in a nicely decorated, clean pub. Unfortunately the weather was too cold to enjoy the beer garden which looks as though it is newly refurbished but from our experience on this visit, we will definitely return in the summer if not before to enjoy more food, drink and a pleasant atmosphere.
Lovely pub, dog friendly in the bar and great staff. Only had a bowl of fries but the other food coming out looked great! Good selection of ales too.
Met with a friend for lunch at this pub which was conveniently located between our homes. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming, the choice of food was amazing - we went for the Express lunch menu which offered a good selection of Thai curries, stir-fries and noodles. An enormous portion of perfectly cooked fluffy rice and a red chicken Thai curry. 2 x vegetable spring rolls for starters, with a chilli dip. All perfectly presented and flavoursome. The perfectly flavoured coffee was served nice and hot. It may seem a distance outside of Reading, but from where I live close to Reading University, it was just a 14 minute drive. All in all a lovely lunch experience - I'll definitely be recommending this as a place to eat to friends and will be back again in the future!
Went for lunch on a Monday unusual day to go out with 2 friends. The menus are very varied we just opted for sandwiches which came with chips. Very filling but still managed to eat salted caramel cheesecake. Will definitely be back for dinner one day. Staff very friendly .
Had lunch here today and enjoyed it very much. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was presented really well and tasted absolutely delicious. Vegetable spring rolls to start followed by a chicken red Thai curry. Would recommend.
