John Lewis is know for its quality products for sale and excellent service. What has astounded me recently is the absolute first class standard of baby changing facilities. As a new dad I have to say their facilities set the standard for all others to aim for.
A purely wonderful shop and full of luxurious products. Well decorated and just interesting to go in. Love it.
Me and my Mum made a trip to Southampton especially to go to the baby department at John Lewis as I'd been recommended. I'd been really struggling as everything seems to be online now but especially as a first time Mum I wanted to have some advice on what to buy and I wanted to be able to feel fabrics etc. The ladies in the baby/nursery department were so helpful, I couldn't recommend it enough. I needed a few things, but mainly went for a baby carrier as I'd been told you really need to try them on. I wish I got her name but the lovely lady I spoke with was so helpful. I tried on multiple carriers and in the end went for something that I hadn't looked at online. Not only were the ladies in the baby department really helpful, but I needed new underwear as I'm 22 weeks pregnant, and the ladies in that department were really helpful in showing me what I needed for comfort etc too. We had lunch in the cafe and there was a good choice in there. The ham baguette I had was really nice and the bread tasted lovely and fresh. On top of all of that, while I was in the changing rooms my Mum was trying on shoes and accidentally left her orthopedic insoles in a pair of shoes and she didn't notice until she got home and took her shoes off! She lives around an hour and a half away from Southampton, so it wasn't a case of just being able to pop back and collect them. She spoke to someone in the branch over the telephone and they not only took the time to find them for her, but they were also posted back to her. We both felt that everyone in store was so unbelievably helpful, and haven't experienced customer service like that in such a long time. We'll definitely be going back there.
Real shame because the store itself is lovely but the cafe… terrible. Went for a breakfast with my mum today and paid £9.50 for the full English breakfast. I think ‘full’ is a bit of a stretch. 1 sausage, dry bacon, dry beans. It was all so over cooked and not to mention that poor dehydrated tomato! Fine for a breakfast if £2.99, but for £9.50 - this was really poor.
Only went in to use Restaurant as I had a free breakfast bap with my John Lewis rewards.,but the bap was unavailable so stayed for coffee. Big mistake. Really long que the after being served had to search for a clean/cleared table. The restaurant is a disgrace to the John Lewis name.In my estimation I would say 70% of the empty tables were full with used crockery, bottles and cutlery with no member of staff even trying to clean up.But at least we had been greeted with a staff member handing out trays
Went into John Lewis Southampton yesterday to get advice on a new laptop. Spoke to Sarah who was very knowledgeable and professional giving advice on my requirements and no attempt to "up-sell". She sent me details of the items we discussed via e-mail for me to review at home. Happy with her advice, I ordered on-line yesterday afternoon. Laptop was delivered this morning. Fantastic service all round. Thank you
Disappointed in John Lewis today. My mum booked a 90 minute appointment with the Beauty Society as I am getting married soon and I wanted to try some products and get advice. Unfortunately the person doing my makeup was off sick today. I was called 30 minutes before the appointment, after I'd already left home. I was offered to change to the Bobbi Brown counter but that wasn't what I wanted as I needed to try a range of products and the person on the phone said that wasn't possible. It is very difficult to arrange appointments and this had been booked for some time. I was asked to call back to rearrange, which I tried to do but was taken through a call centre who couldn't get hold of anyone in store. They left a message for the store to call be as they said there is no direct dial number for the store. It was a disappointing experience from John Lewis and I felt the person on the phone wasn't that interested in giving an apology or trying to rectify it. It was supposed to be a lovely pre-wedding experience but ended up leaving me feeling upset and like I was an inconvenience for not accepting the appointment at Bobbi Brown instead. I really expected more from John Lewis. We decided to visit anyway, as we were already en route. Thankfully I did get to speak to a wonderful person on the MAC counter, who colour matched foundation, despite being the only staff member there, and she couldn't have been more lovely and helpful. She took the time to explain everything and made me feel better about the day.
Popped in here to avoid the rain and browse prams as we are expecting our first baby in August. Vicky came and answered all our questions, gave advice and was generally really really helpful despite knowing we wouldn’t be purchasing anything today. Great customer service and really knowledgable. Hope you get to see the positive feedback Vicky!
Not sure what is happening at JL but enquired about a gift item. 3 employees sent me to 3 different departments and eventually customer services suggested on line might be easier!!! Really?? Definitely not enough staff on shop floor and some appear not to be fully acquainted with store plan. Shame.
John Lewis JL enjoys seeing customers suffer. All JL staff had been trying to give all excuses to stop my cousin from speaking directly to Jamal from Aftersales Team who made the promise of giving her a goodwill gesture. On the same day, they said Jamal was at the office, was on holiday, was sick. When they ran out of excuses, they cut off the line so customers need to call again and go through the long waiting time on the call, repeat the whole long story again and again, and even when the customers have proof on the emails, it is useless because they will just cut off the line. This is their strategy to play games and play the customers. In their eyes, they do not treat customers as customers. They are liars. They also seem to enjoy playing the customers and enjoy seeing the customers suffer from the mistakes they make.
