While there is still building going on, the various events are done well, the talks are informative and interesting, staff is friendly and the activities are good. It would be great to have tours without kids, but it was all great. Perhaps it needs a bit more on, and be a bit closer to, the actual telescope. Some live feeds from what they are observing, or working on would be great. Some involvement of the public in the research? Otherwise it is quite perfect. Loved the resident expert/ scientist!

I'm rating it 3 stars because we were expecting a lot more interactive exhibits for the children, all though the exhibitions which were on display were good! Would probably recommend if you have older children (8+) they would more likely appreciate the experience. The customer service was very good, all very helpful and happy give you information about all the exhibitions. There is a cafe which sells a variety of hot and cold foods, we didn't eat in the cafe as we had brought our own picnic. Plenty of picnic tables around the grounds too. There is a small play park but we unable to use as it was raining, I'm sure the kids would have enjoyed it if was dry weather! An average value for money for a 3-4 hour visit

Interesting day out, lots to learn and amazing telescope. Also really excellent cafe with good food and delicious cakes. Good quality selection of interesting things in the shop. Toilet facilities and baby changing great too.

Nice day out. The shows they put on are well worth watching, particularly the family science shows. The gardens are nice to wander around and really well kept up. There’s a lot of hands on stuff in one of the exhibition centres. The main one when you walk in is a little disappointing and could have more in it. The cafe is fantastic and when we went they also had a second pop up cafe where you could take your own food in too. There are plenty of picnic areas including indoor ones which are a nice touch. I think the kids play area could have been kitted our better. The equipment is new but there is very little for younger kids. My 3 year old could only go on the single large basket swing which all kids were queuing for.

I went there 20 years ago and was in awe of it, especially with the planetarium. I took my children there to find there's no planetarium and hasn't been for a number of years. Some exhibits and hands on features were looking a bit shabby and in need of repair in some cases. The main dish is an impressive structure but you don't need to be right up to it to appreciate it. The whole places was just rather underwhelming.
