Had a wonderful stay in the family room recently.nBrilliant service throughout the week, especially from Thomas, who went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed.nThe breakfast was fabulous and the service every morning was exceptional!nThankyou to all the wonderful staff for making us feel so welcome at the Jesmond Dene House Hotel.n5 stars from me & my girls
Had our wedding reception here in June. We booked one of the smaller rooms for a 3 course lunch.nnFood and location were nice but service was poor.nnThere was no one other than the reception staff around to greet us when we arrived and the reception just asked if we knew where we were going and vaguely pointed in the dircetion of the room. Not everyone knew where the room was so there was a bit of confusion.nnWe'd pre ordered food but they'd got some of the place cards wrong so one guest had to wait a long time for his starter. No apology / acknowledgement from the staff.nnThere was only 1 server who was tricky to get hold of when he wasn't serving food. We generally didn't feel very well looked after.nnThen when it came to settle up our server had disappeared so we had to go searching for someone to bring us the bill/help us out with a few bits find the cake box etc. We had to ask multiple people so it took a while to sort everything out.nnI should say that the event staff were pretty good in the lead up to the meal. They were pretty well organised and spent some time explaining the set up. Just a shame that the serving staff were not up to the same standard.nnAll in all not terrible but I expected better service when spending so much money.
Sat outside for coffee and cake. Had to get the waitress's attention to ask for a menu as they didn't seem to want to be forthcoming. Over twenty minutes later, with the waitress having not come back outside we left, our order had not been taken. It wasn't in any way busy, with barely anyone inside, so I'm not sure what the staff were doing.
Went with my daughter in law and grandkids for her birthday afternoon tea . The staff and food were amazing. The grounds and terrace were immaculate I will definitely be going back again .
The grounds are well kept and beautiful, despite only being a few hundred yards from the main road. The architecture is well preserved and blends with the newly constructed buildings.nnWe attended for breakfast and this did not live up to the same standard as the beauty of the property. The french toast was undercooked and runny in the centre, resulting in half being left. The poached eggs were more firm than runny, and the toast on the table was cold by the time the breakfasts arrived.nnService was generally slow despite a quiet day, and staff failed to notice that over half a plate of food was left untouched for more than 20 minutes. The continental breakfast had a good selection, although pastries were a mixture of hot and cold.nnWhen checking online we opted for breakfast due to the lack of vegetarian or vegan options for afternoon tea online. When we were waiting to be seated we noticed separate vegetarian and vegan afternoon tea menus which were not visible online.nnOverall, as this is my first visit, I feel this may have been an off day, as I hope and expect for the prices charged at this venue the service standards are usually significantly greater.
