James Dahl Indian

About

Being a recent addition to the vast list of eateries Birmingham has to offer, James Dahl distinguishes itself with bona fide, light, and refined dishes combined with a deliberately understated décor and service which strives for perfection.

Story

Serving upscale Indian dishes from its sophisticated location inside The Arcadian on Digbeth’s Hurst Street, James Dahl Indian is a dining destination that will change the way you look at Indian cuisine. Utilising all-natural ingredients, seasonal produce and healthy cooking techniques, James Dahl Indian offers dishes that are light and fresh, a stark contrast to the usual heavy, albeit delicious, specialities we’ve come to associate with the Indian kitchen.

Despite a very recent opening (2016), James Dahl Restaurant is already a huge success winning an accolade in the 'English Curry Awards,' so be sure to book in advance to secure a table.

I will ALWAYS come back here to eat. This is the first Indian restaurant I have dined at, that the meals were perfectly made. Every dish I tried was delicious and the spices were well balanced and not over powering. The portions were great and very affordable. Service was lovely as everyone was considerable and very friendly. Parking: You would have to park in a paid parking lot and walk down to the restaurant.
Absolutely beautiful food and lovely cocktails. Food was very well presented and the right amount of spice/flavouring. Husband had the lamb railway curry and was the best curry he has had the depth in flavour was out of this world. Nann bread was fluffy and again full of flavour. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you for a great meal.Food: 5/5
We had the most amazing experience celebrating my birthday here. The food was delicious, the servers were so friendly especially our server Soyel. Definitely want to come again to try more dishes.Food: 5/5
Gorgeous food. We had a madras and a butter chicken and both were beautifully fresh. I love a hot curry and it is difficult to find a madras that's got a nicely texture sauce and a good flavour that isn't just heat with no substance. This really did hit that spot, it had a very rounded taste and a wonderful heat. The naan was wonderfully soft and thin which gave it that lovely slight crisp you want in fresh naan. The accompaniments to the poppadoms were all lovely. The diced onion had loads of fresh coriander which I am always a fan of. For reference we had 2 alcoholic drinks, 2 soft drinks, 2 curries, poppadoms, 4 sides and it came to around £80. This was pricer than a standard Indian but the quality was also much higher. They also do cocktails and an old fashioned that doesn't feature Jack daniels though I didn't sample them I will certainly be back to do so. Kid-friendliness: I would say no unless they're slightly older and are happy to just sit and eat without entertainment
A wonderful Indian restaurant in the heart of the Chinese Quarter in Birmingham. The food is absolutely sensational. Every dish had a unique taste, it was evident that everything was freshly made. One of the best Indians I've had in a long time. Flavourful dishes with plentiful meat. We also saw staff give food to a homeless person at the door. It was lovely to see such kind staff, who looked after us so well too. The service was excellent. We were well looked after all evening and our evening was so special given we came for a birthday. Thank you for a wonderful evening. If we are ever in the area again, we would come back in a heartbeat!
Fantastic atmosphere. Food top notch - best garlic and coriander naan bread ever tasted. Service was excellentFood: 5/5

Blanc NRI Indian Cuisine, formerly James Dhal, offers a fusion of traditional Indian flavors with a contemporary twist. Located in a charming setting, the restaurant exudes an inviting ambiance, complemented by impeccable decor. As an enthusiast of Indian cuisine, I've savored various dishes at Blanc NRI, each a delightful experience. From the Vegetable Singara to classics like Saag Paneer, the freshness of ingredients shines through, creating a symphony of taste. Not to be missed are the deliciously fluffy and light naan breads, perfectly complementing the flavorful dishes. The service is impeccable, adding to the overall experience. A must try is their Rose Falooda, a decadent dessert blending floral notes with creamy sweetness, a perfect conclusion to a memorable meal. In summary, Blanc NRI Indian Cuisine seamlessly blends tradition with innovation, offering delightful dishes, an inviting ambiance, exceptional service, and mouthwatering naan breads. A must visit for an elevated Indian dining experience. Parking: I believe the street parking is free after 6:30pm. However. Be sure to confirm at ticket dispenser.
Absolutely wonderful ambience, service and food!!! Soyel waiting service was absolutely exceptional. Definitely coming there again.Food: 5/5
If you want some Authentic Indian food, highly recommend Blanc NRI. They have really nice and amazing food. Although, the chicken isn't an tender I hope, but the flavor is complex and delicious. Perfect place for date night or friendly hangout.
