About our shop

Story

We are a family business built on a reputation of quality and friendly service. 44 George Street has been home to a cycle shop since 1906, when original owner John Sinclair set up his sales and repairs business. The shop changed hands in 1954 when the retiring John Sinclair sold the business to former RAF pilot John Richards. The business is still in the family with his Drew Richards as the current proprietor.

First experience buying a bike from these guys and honestly was the best experience. John talked me through the options of the bike I was interested in, options for the upgrades I required and nothing was too much trouble. I've bought many bikes over the years and this is up there with the best experience. I now have my bike and totally blown away by it. The after sales customer service has been fantastic and it really is important to shop local and get great onhand after sales support. Thanks guys. Will be back.

Absolutely delighted with my new Gravel bike. Perfect for the winter months ahead. Excellent service from John and his team. Such a friendly and professional bike shop, we’re so lucky to have on our doorstep. Will be buying a new road bike in the future and know where my first stop will be. Great customer service, fast turnaround and a reasonable price. Hopefully found a way of preventing frequent punctures on my buggy with these tyres wrapped around the old ones.

Went in this morning to ask if they could assist with an issue I’m having with my ebike brake controller. Very nice woman at the counter said probably not due to restrictions they have on types of bikes they can work on. A gentleman from the back came through a mechanic I presumed and also advised that they couldn’t help, and also said that “ That’s the downfall of not buying locally “ . A very condescending reply in my eyes, as a yes or no answer would have sufficed !!!! I now know that this ‘local’ , will not be returning to the premises for any future purchases and will continue to shop elsewhere.

Fabulous service. Bike fixed while I waited. Expert advice and workshop. All I can say is if you have a problem even with expensive ebikes like mine then go here and they'll sort you out

Massive help getting new wheel my bike on LeJog. Went above and beyond checking everything working on my bike after as well. Very reasonable prices too!
