Lovely place with excellent food. Made to feel very welcomed! Dog friendly.
Lovely food and a peaceful garden. Ideal and dog friendly.
A small "locals" pub, but the staff were really welcoming to everyone. Had seen great reviews for the fish and chips, but I would say they were good, but nothing special. I would suggest the management look at softening the lighting to create a nicer atmosphere. The beer was really good, and as I said, the staff were lovely.
After a long walk around the nature reserve we treated ourselves to a delicious roast dinner. The lamb shank was perfect and fell off the bone. Generous portions and really enjoyed the cauliflower cheese and the apple crumble. Great real ale selection, old diary and TEA. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Everything a pub should be!
Visited Rye Harbour a few times but never noticed this place, thought we would pop in and see what it was like. We were extremely pleased we did! We have two autistic children who are a challenge at the best of times but the pub has a lovely well kept exterior enclosed area which was perfect to keep an eye on them. The menu is simple but they were very happy to do something off the menu for one of our kids which was very much appreciated. All the meals were absolutely delicious and the fish and chips were spot on. Even the kids meals were top notch. We had some local ale which was also impressive. Overall the customer service and food gets top marks from me, was so good we had to sample the puddings as well. We will be visiting again for sure!
Friendly bar with a decent range of real ales on tap so initially quite excited however a little disappointed that a bowl of uninspiring looking chips took 45 minutes to arrive whilst others in the same order received larger meals much sooner but they still did not arrive all together. Beer 5*, Food 2* - dog friendly.
Excellent fresh fish and chips in a traditional pub setting. The service was very good. There is seating outside but as it was very hot and sunny we sat inside for our meal. Choice of cod, huss or skate and chips. There were also Rye Harbour scallops. We ordered medium size fish which was plenty big enough for us; the batter was not too thick. We will certainly be returning.
Popped in here on a afternoon trip to rye and decided to stay for some food. 3 of us each had different burgers and the other had the homemade chicken Kiev. All of which were wonderfully fresh and came out lovely and hot. We sat in the garden which was lovely, secluded, peaceful and a real sun trap. What a lovely place for a chilled afternoon.
We enjoyed our meal mostly but was cheaply done, bit like a cafe. Food served to us by a guy in filthy joggers and t-shirt which was a bit off-putting. Ordered desserts just 2 of us and they came out 5 minutes apart! The lasagne was delicious but was quite cold in parts. Have to order food at bar. Waitress really lovely and friendly. Wouldn't go back though.
friendly local pub, cheap beer, even free crisps
