Stayed here with my wife and daughter during January. Great location as you can easily walk down to the coast and in to town. Old hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. On the negative side, and why we rated this 3 stars, is that the breakfast was exceptionally poor and the hotel was quite dirty. Not sure when last the jam bowl had been cleaned, but there was butter and quite a bit of dust in the bowl. None of the cooked food looked appetizing and the scrambled were swimming in a pool of water. Other than a few cooked items, there were bananas and tinned pineapples for fruit. A few yoghurts, milk and cereal. This is the first time that I can recall where I had milk and boxed cereal for breakfast at a hotel because nothing else looked at all appetizing. The beds were also to soft for my liking. I won’t be staying here again in future.

I was in the UK for a few weeks over Christmas and New Year to spend time with my daughter, who is studying in England. I stayed 4 nights at Ilfracombe, 2 close to my arrival and 2 just before I left the UK to go back to Australia. My time there was a wonderful experience, and Bertie and Drita and all the staff looked after me so well. Over my 4 nights there I experienced 3 different bedrooms and they were all beautiful, clean and comfortable. I had dinner there twice with my daughter and the food was wonderfully prepared. Breakfast was amazing in every way! So much variety - yoghurts, cereals, fruits, and the best hot choices, including bacon and scrambled eggs and spotlessly presented. They hold a wonderful tradition of pouring each guest's first cup of tea or coffee. A very special hotel. Highly recommended!

An extrememly nice place to visit and stay for a night. Very warm and clean. Excellent rooms and lovely shower and bathroom. Breakfast was excellent. Good wifi signal. Car park park is small, however the owner was extremely helpful and offered to move his car so we could park. If we are back in the area, we will definately use this guest house again. Recommended..

These guys really looked after my daughter when she was temporarily put here at short notice. They really went out of their way to look after my daughter and baby granddaughter. They even moved her to an apartment on the ground floor off their own backs. The place is also very nice, clean etc. I honestly can't thank you guys enough. You went above and beyond and definitely restored our faith in the fact that people do genuinely care.
