I love coming her during the week with the kids, especially when the weather is bad. They love wandering through all the different rooms, especially the children's area. I have never left them in the free play area, with I think us like a soft play center, but I definitely will when they are older. The rooms they have set up are excellent for inspiration for your own home and I like the way they now seem to have more realistically sized rooms, and also tell you the square footage of the room. While we are there we always get long in the restaurant (which is lovely), and I love that they now do veggie balls, so I always used to feel like I was missing out on the meatballs as a vegetarian. The food is really reasonably priced and if you have a family card you can get a free coffee in the week. The y also have kids meals, baby food pouches and an area to heat up baby food. The restaurant has plenty of high chairs as you might expect, plus bibs and kids cutlery. There is a play area in the middle, but it is only of limited interest to my kids. They much preferred the play kitchen that used to be there before the restaurant was done up.

Walking around the shop there were announcements about long queues at the tills.. fine, we'd hoped by the time we got round they'd be shorter. So we had lunch, carried on round... Turned out it wasn't long queues due to volume of traffic, it was long queues due to technical faults meaning no card payments. There was no ETA on when they'd be working again, and the queue for the only local cash machine spread over 2 floors so was obviously going to be cleared out if we'd used that. If they'd just been up front and said why the tills were busy, we'd have not wasted over an hour walking around picking up hundreds of pounds worth of stuff, only to dump it at the tills due to being unable to pay for them... We'd have returned the next day instead. Add to this the fact I was carrying all of this stuff by hand because the escalators not working due to another fault, and it was really the trip from hell. I don't think we'll go back here again... Was a total waste of my afternoon.

Very helpful service - friendly, expert and efficient. Good quality and keenly priced products. Wide range of choice. Note - your visit will be more enjoyable if you have a clear idea of want you want - rather than spending time in the showrooms dithering to and fro uncertainly different products and options.

The complete shopping experience. Nice cafe with good reasonably priced food. Bit noisy with all the kids but very child friendly. Interesting Swedish food shop on ground floor. And of course all the usual good quality Ikea furniture and home accessories.

IKEA is always amazing...specially on a rainy day. I spend a lot of time with my children and this place is on my list to visit together with the David Lloyd fitness club and Costco when the weather is nasty. Kids run around and very happy. The play area in the restaurant is very good because you can have your meal and watch kids playing. Even on the days when kids are at school or nursery it's still a nice place to distract yourself from everyday routine. Free coffee and tea for the members and very nice latter coffee only for £0.40 during the weekdays, free internet and plenty of space to sit in the corner and check your emails or chat. My only advice is to make a list of what you need before you go and keep to the budget...I always end up buying twice as much stuff as I was planning... And don't forget to go to the bargain corner first...there is a chance that you will find there exactly what you need (or don't need ;-) ) quite cheap. Never be shy to ask for a further reduction. If you have a nice smile you most probably get it.
