Unhelpful to say the very least. All female staff I saw we rude and never offered any help to my problem, talked to me like a piece of rubbish. Staff need to go a customer service course ASAP Problem solved eventually but will there be a lessons learned outcome form this?? I won't hold my breath.

Travelled all the way down to this city centre branch (they've closed all the local/suburban High Street branches to save money - never mind that forces customers to travel further) to try and open an account, after they advertise an inducement of £150 for switching. I spend about an hour and a half there (a lot of it waiting to see someone after they fluffed my appointment) because they insist on you being there in person to apply for an account, then they tell you they're not going to give you an account, but refuse to tell you why. Time wasters. Don't bother. I didn't even get offered a drink; what cheapskates. Abysmal customer service. They only want you if they think they can sting you for charges/extortionate interest for going overdrawn or failing to pay off your credit card bill. If you manage your money well, they're not interested in you. Why everyone hates banks.

To be fair, there's only one person who i can say is interested and gives good service everytime I am there. The rest of the staff just have negative behavior and just hate working. Treatment of customers is poor for an establishment like HSBC.

Each time I am forced to enter this bank I literally scream inside. The staff visibly hate their jobs and verbally cut you off before you've finished describing your issue. They constantly refer you downstairs or upstairs to another colleague or the machines. I was once left waiting for 15 minutes to make a foreign currency transaction because the front counter could not do a simple transaction. When I finally got thru the queue the associate told me it was easier if I went to a shop to do the conversion. Why was the first associate I spoke to at the front counter unable to tell me this? The customer service is unconscionable at this branch. Would not refer.

Rant time. I wish I could award zero stars. You can't get through to the branch via any telephone number - ever. You're forced to use their useless Call Centre. First time I rang them, I was told I couldn't see our actual account manager but someone else and that someone would call back to confirm. 48 hours later - no call, so I drove to the bank to see someone face to face to confirm. I was told no appointment was in the diary - after I had booked the day out in my diary. I was told the manager would definitely call me Monday. No call came. When I rang the Call Centre a 2nd time, I was given the same run around. No branch was answering their phones and the call centre operative said he tried 8 different branches. He said even if I popped in I couldn't see anyone as, and I quote "the staff would be busy dealing with other customers" Not this one obviously. The modern Banking System is utterly utterly useless! It is broken and this bank doesn't give a fig. At least when I had a problem with my Nat West card, I was able to pop in on a Saturday recently and they sorted it there and then and gave me an hour of their time. HSBC don't seem to be even on the same page. Avoid.
