Apalling customer service (or lack thereof). Generally unprofessional and uninterested staff who are both poorly trained and blatantly rude. Changing banks was easily one of the best decisions I have made.

Unfortunately all my interactions so far have been overwhelmingly negative. Apparently staff in the business banking department can't check a mandate form correctly, pass it to the appropriate people or advise me of what's happening when i turn up with my ID documents. Yet they took copies of them anyway. Just terrible service and poor communication. The two star only because the last person i interacted with, found the mandate, apologised profusely and told me a faster method to add people on, which should have been explained in the first place!

I use all the banks on the high street as i need to make payments to my suppliers who all hold accounts with different banks. I have to say that HSBC has to be the worst banking experience in my opinion. They may have a fancy modern branch with all the latest technology but there's literally no human communication available when you need it. They have a person who stands near the entrance basically cajoling you to use the machines and they are always reluctant to pass you downstairs to a human teller. The machines are useless, they take ages to operate and keep rejecting notes. They don't accept coins so I'm unable to pay an exact amount. HSBC are so obsessed with cutting costs that they've forgotten customer service and convenience. I would recommend you to use any other bank but these guys.
