I am updating my previous review, as we had such inconsistent experiences with House of Spice that we stopped ordering. There was a huge difference from one week to the next in the quality of the food. On one occasion, there was a bit of debris appeared to be from a can opener in one of the dishes. The flavour of the favourite dansak was inconsistent from one order to the next as well. Very disappointing.

Was recommend by a friend of my husband’s work colleague and boy we were not disappointed. Chicken buna, lamb Madras, they made up a chicken spicy special surprise for me, sag paneer. Cannot wait for the next weekend to try more dishes. The food was amazing, delivered not through an app, direct from the restaurant and was piping hot, in less than half an hour. We ordered a take-away dinner from House of Spice for the first time yesterday. The website to order the food is well laid out and clear; everything on the menu is easy to find. Delivery time given was 40 minutes ASAP requested and the food arrived within 25. Unfortunately, the food was not great. We had the Nawabi Kebab and Mixed starters The dishes were very wet making the the onion bhaji soggy. We had Lamb Balti, Chicken Jalfrezi, Baby aubergines, Chilli jeera paneer and Royal Daal. The mains were bland at best, lacked seasoning, no real flavour. Too many peppers and onions in the Chicken Jalfrezi and Chilli paneer. Sadly, we won't be returning too soon.
Horrible service, phoned up to complain about my order, politely may I add, to be then told it’s how we make it and then to be hung up on. Curry was sour! Popadoms had a weird and funny taste to it. Please don’t order from them, there are better curry houses.Food: 1/5
The food tasted ok at dinner, but that night, a family member was experiencing stomach cramps and had bowel problems. She had food poisoning for the next two days and, when we contacted House of Spice management, we were only offered 25% off and have not heard back from them since. I don't know if the hygiene standards have plummeted or if the ingredients in the vegetable curry were way out of date, but it's the worst food poisoning we've ever seen from a takeaway. Needless to say, we will not be using them again.
The food is delicious and full of flavour, very tasty; but so little meat inside the dishes, small portions also, for byriany also didn't had the option to order with my choice of meat... such a shame.
