Nice place overall, some quirks that come with old buildings. Our remote ran out of batteries and they didn't have any which really they should since every room has TV with remote, but overall still had a good time, and the food was pretty good too. Huge shower was nice, staff was always very nice.Rooms: 4/5
Value for money is 10/10 £99 with breakfast and a loch view room is brilliant. We got room 5. Lovely peaceful night sleep. We definitely will be back 100%. The hot Breakfast was tasty and came with a selection of continental offeringsRooms: 5/5
The place was amazing! We stayed one night and had breakfast and dinner here, the service was great and so was the food. The staff were very friendly and respectful. Would definitely recommend staying here!! Rooms: The room size was perfect for 3 people and a dog, the beds were comfortable, although the floor is a bit creaky. The view was amazing and the temperature of the room was perfect. Food & drinks: The food was great! We had breakfast and dinner here and it was really tasty, there are just enough options! The time it took for the food to come was normal, and the people around in the dining room were really friendly!
Had such a wonderful stay here. All the staff are super helpful and friendly. It's a fantastic location, right on the Loch with a beer garden on the edge of the water. The food is super. Good value for money. The drinks are reasonably priced for the area. The bar is very friendly and welcoming and there is a games room upstairs for kids. The only thing I would mark down slightly was the overall cleanliness of our room, which is probably due a deep clean. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
I stayed here a couple of nights for business in the area. I was welcomed by the hotel manager who was very friendly and helpful with directions. The hotel is located by the Loch with beautiful views across the bay. The rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable - if a bit dated. Food was good in the evening, limited menu but something for everyone. However, the cooked breakfast requires a bit more work - not the greatest quality. My visit was in the off season, it was very quiet - only me, the manager and the chef staying on the first night. Would recommend if over in the area. Rooms: Somewhat dated, but comfortable, clean and tidy. Food & drinks: The evening meal was good. Portion sizes were about the right size, full of flavour and served within a good time to allow the previous course to settle. Breakfast however was buffet style for cereal etc. cooked breakfast wasn't up to much.
Hotel is old and dated, but that was as expected based on other reviews and the posted age is the hotel. Room was large for 3 adults. Floorboards loud. Nice den with a small billiards table. Breakfast was good. Staff were pleasant.Rooms: 3/5
Popped in on the way past after a recommendation. Very welcoming and a decent food selection. My Mac n Cheese was very creamy and not stodgy. My better 3/4s had scallops and black pudding, she tells me they were great and her soup was lovely. All in all, a great visit and I’d pass on the recommendation I got.
Good place to stay with friendly staff. Stayed in the in the rooms adjacent to the hotel. Excellent view. Rooms are clean but a little bit tired. Wouldn't put me off going back.Rooms: 4/5
We had room 15, which has a ramp but you have to step over the door frame, walk-in shower, and a portable shower seat for accessibility. It's a HUGE room not in the main hotel building, but just next door with a nice little free parking lot behind. It has a big balcony with seating and views of the water, 2 twin beds, a leather sofa, 2 desks - one with coffee setup and an ottoman and the other with a chair, side tables as appropriate, a large closet with extra bedding, wall-mounted TV, and some extras like an ironing board and iron, hot cocoa, and cookies. The bathroom is large, and the water pressure in the shower is great. No conditioner provided, but there is shampoo/body gel, and the towels are big. It also has a heated towel rack and HEATED FLOORS! For a mid-range hotel, that was a very welcome surprise! The beds could stand an upgrade they're fine and clean, but not the most comfy in my opinion, and the balcony is a bit worse for wear. Again, though, it's totally fine, and very spacious with massive sliding doors for lots of light and fresh air. The location is quiet and peaceful. There's a restaurant and bar in the hotel. We had dinner there, and I found the haggis to be quite good - more meaty, light on the oats. The cullen skink was also tasty - had trout along with the traditional smoked haddock and lots of leeks, which I love. The beef burger was a weird texture - very dense and tasted a bit hammy; it wasn't necessarily bad or anything, just not what we are used to. Hotel staff is friendly, and we enjoyed live music that started towards the end of our meal. The musician was so good we stayed a while longer and ordered Gaelic coffees to sip on! The food and drinks are well priced - €76 for 2 starters, 2 entrées, 2 bottles of sparkling water, 1 beer, 2 gin and tonics one single and one double, and 2 Gaelic coffees. I also want to add that when I made my booking online, I requested a ground or 1st floor room. Not only did they accommodate that request, but they went above and beyond to give us the most accessible room possible. I provided no details other than the inability of my traveling companion to climb more than 1 flight of stairs, and yet they took it upon themselves to consider how else they could accommodate someone with limited mobility. Really lovely service from thoughtful people. bravo
This place could be so much better. It's in serious need of refurbishment especially the bar and restaurant area We had 1 evening meal which was ok breakfast on the other hand was very good. The main problem is a total lack of maintenance. The bathroom fan didn't work, there black mould around the bath, the bottom of the shower curtain had black mould on it, cabinet on wall wasn't straight, the light in it didn't work, there is a redundant plastic bracket on the wall above the bath which I cut my head on when bending down for my shampoo, cobwebs stuck to tiles, mouldy cobwebs on tiles and 2 downlights In bedroom didn't work. They did change the shower curtain and replace the 2 downlights which the next day 1 have stopped working again. Also the room smelt of wet dogs. Would not recommend.
