As we walked by Marble Arch, we saw this statue. I wasn't sure what the statue was depicting- and had to stop and take a closer look. This bronze horse's head sculpture is very striking! It's VERY large at 33 feet tall and one of the most unique sculptures I have ever seen
Massive bronze sculpture of a head of a horse by Nic Fiddian-Green. In 2020, Syria installed a similar sculpture in Rawda Square, Damascus. There is also a smaller copy in At-Bashy village in Kyrgyzstan.
Located right next to Marble Arch is this very striking sculpture of a disembodied, giant horse's head. The horse's mouth is touching the ground as if leaning down to eat some grass, which in some ways induces a sense of relaxation just because the horse is doing something quite mundane.
Nic Fiddian-Green's 10 meter tall bronze statue of a horse's head, called Still Water, seems to have become a permanent fixture near Marble Arch on the northeast corner of Hyde Park. This installation was originally schedule to be a temporary exhibition when it was unveiled in June 2009. However, it seems the Still Water statue has past the test of time and become a permanent addition to the minor attractions in and around Hyde Park. Still Water is a simple image of horse's head and partial neck pointed straight down, creating the appearance of a relaxed animal sipping water. The statue is supposed to be the tallest free-standing bronze statue in the city of London and quite interesting to see for visitors who visit this area of Hyde Park or Oxford Street.
A breathtaking statue and looks like it is floating in the sky. This huge 10m high bronze Marwari horse head by Nic Fiddian-Green dominates the landscape. The Marwari horse of today are descended from the splendid war horses that have served the ruling families and warriors of feudal India. This 6 tonne Marwari horse head at Marble Arch is a stunning art sculpture and visiting recommended.
Truly an astonishing platform for the high end artistry on display. A great location to soak it all in and truly a must see when in London. Highly recommended!
Very nice sculpture of Horse Head in Bronze. Regular cleaning and polishing is required.
Felt a bit thirsty. Searched ‘still water’ on Google Maps to find a place selling bottles of still water. Found a giant horse head instead. What a pleasant surprise. You could say it’s Hyde Park’s ‘mane’ attraction.
Beloved by small children and fans of all things equestrian, this 35ft high disembodied horse’s head balances on its nose by Marble Arch. Unveiled in 2009, it is now a permanent installation yet looks set to topple over. The bronze sculpture, by Nic Fidden-Green, represents a horse drinking water and was based upon his own steed, George.
This colossal sculpture is awkwardly located for pedestrian access, circled by a busy traffic route, oriented away from Marble Arch facing the pond. Admirable, but certainly not placed to best advantage nor vantage.
