I had the salt and pepper squid and vegetable spring roles. And it was absolutely delicious. Very reasonable price for the amount of serving on the plate. Authentic taste! The service was quick. Good for casual dinning. Will be back!Food: 5/5
If I could leave 0 stars I would. Ordered a takeaway, but the order was declined due to lack of ingredients, sweet and sour prawns, hard to believe, but never mind. I asked for the order without the prawns, but was told it would take 1.5 hours to get to Southsea, so no takeaway. The guy sounded like he could not be bothered to do the order. The money was taken out of my account and I still have not received a refund almost a week later. I keep getting told that the manager has to do it and he will call, but I am fed up waiting. Appalling service and unacceptable and theft. Be careful when you order from this place.
I love recommendations and when my colleague told me about it, I had to try. My partner brought me here as it was our treat day and girlll, I had fun. I was satiated. I ordered the THREE ROAST. Im asian, i love my rice egg fried rice for this dish and it is topped with roasted duck, crispy pork belly and char siu. My partner opted for chow mein but I told him to get the STIR FRIED BEEF HO FAN. It didnt disappoint him. "Simple and done well" was his comment. It came with a generous serving of tender beef with some bean sprouts, spring onions and the noodles. The wok hei was there. We had to order more meat and that meant SWEET AND SOUR PORK RIBS. This isnt the tender fall off the bone ribs but its cripsy on the outside and you have to pull the meat off the bone. The sauce was great and it had a decent amount of meat to bone ratio as well as vegetables. It was lunch time, felt thirsty from walking under the scorching sun. Their HOMEMADE LEMON ICED TEA did not disappoint. I think they used black tea, some sweetener and added in fresh lemons. Very refreshing with crushed ice. They serve it with a straw and a spoon so you can crush the lemon as you slurp down this lovely bevvy. They take card and cash payments. Loo was our of order when we visited. We didnt have to make a reservation. They do takeaways 20pence per takeaway tub. Food came out fast and hot. 5-10minute walk from the portsmouth and southsea train station Star rating Price 5/5 Food 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Service 5/5 Location 5/5
Werry bad experience ,no meat just bones. Overcooked rice without taste. I'm not sure, but egg fried rice shouldn't just be boiled plain witch egg. Almost £12 per portion is overpriced for this inedible food. I had to give one star to be able to leave a comment, but it's not even one star from me.
Hong Kong Tea Bar was my dad's favourite Chinese. He passed away recently and we have visited a few times in recent weeks while sorting out his house. Always good, reasonably priced, food, I can see why he liked it so much.
As always, good food, wonderful service and hygienic. Been having this food for few years.. Never disappointed.
Heard great things about this place and travelled all the way to try it. But when I did, it was okay. The interior could really do with an upscale. The menu is quite large found it intimidating. Pro tip: Triple roast isn't called Triple roast here
I will visit again but I was quite underwhelmed on my first visit. I was after "local cafe" style Hong Kong food and they have a section called "original Chinese special dishes". I had three roast meats, a Chinese classic with egg fried rice. Rice was strangely overcooked and warm at best, not enough sauce with very dry pork that I ended up putting in my hot and sour soup. Duck and crispy pork was nice. Hopefully this a bad day. Visited again and had brisket that turned out to be a bowl of gristle with noodles stuck into one clump. The food is average at best unfortunately.
Use to be a very good place to eat. The food was quite reasonable price... Then the owner changed... boom! The prices went up to quickly! Faster than you can eat! Crispy belly pork is my favourite... used to be £7+ with rice this was after lockdown now its priced as £10.50 + .50 for a rice... i ordered a water and its £1.50! but labeled as softdrinks! Very disappointed on this place !
Good food but nothing special. The ribs were reheated. The actual restaurant is very messy with a big pile of deliveroo bags and random furniture. A calour gas fire completes the scene. The guy who served us was nice. There are a few tables if you want to done in but it is very much a cafe not a typical dining in Chinese.Food: 3/5
