Marketed themselves as the best fish and chips in the UK, however they're probably the worst in the UK. Chips were obviously left over from the day before and reheated. Fish was overcooked and who serves salad with fish and chips???? Prices were expensive and serice was pushy and made us feel uncomfortable. Avoid this place and go to the The Golden Hind on Marylebone Lane which is a 100 times better and only 5 mins away
Great British fish and chips. Good portions, good value, fresh fish, clean restaurant. Can't wait to visit again!
It's a nice place. We ordered three types of fish and chips and they were very delicius. The chef was very friendly. We will return. From Spain
Please make sure that you ask for the price before you buy. they have different prices for different people. They also charge you 12.5% service charge for eating in. They are ripped off. If they see new faces, they always charge the higher prices. More shockingly they don't give you a receipt. I stopped eating from that place. Regarding the fish, it does not taste fresh; as if they cook frozen fish. The £9.80 £6.70 large cod + £2.00 chips + £2.10 service charge I'm sure to find better fish and chips somewhere else. Just like Ryan fish and chips near Tottenham court road where they promise fresh fish not frozen fish. Anyway, I will personally never go there again.
Absolute rubbish. A tourist trap at best. We made the mistake of not reading the reviews prior to dinning at this place. Big mistake. The bad reviews are completely genuine. The presentation of the battered cod and chips was very unappealing for something that costs £12.95. The fish was battered with God knows what. The texture of the fish felt slimy rather than crunchy and fell right apart. Barely any seasoning or flavor whatsoever. To make matters worse, they charge £1 for a measly dollop of tartar sauce which usually comes standard with all the fish meals we’ve tried in London! I was hesitant to ask for a wedge or two of lemon, not that it would’ve made the meal any more bearable. None of us could make it past the grueling first few bites. The fries were pale and soggy. Final verdict: If you’re on Baker St. and want a decent fish meal, just settle for the damn McDonald’s across the street from this poor excuse for a ‘chippie’ and eat a fish fillet sandwich. Your tastebuds, and your wallet, will thank you.
Worst fish and chips I’ve ever had. Chips tasted old and bland, fish was bland and undercooked with the skin still on. They charged £1 for a Petri dish sized tartar sauce. On top of that, they had the audacity to charge a 10% service fee. I feel like I was robbed. Avoid at all cost!!!
Very nice food with a welcoming chef. At the time I had scampi with fries, which i was very pleased. The only reason I felt giving 4 starts instead of 5 is because of the price. I thought It was a bit expensive for a quality-price ratio.
Nothing special, ordered cod and chips , cashier touched the cod with bare hand right after he handled the cash . Overpriced , you would be better off buying M&S cod and chips and making it at home . But , don't take my word for it , go try it , I promise you will feel cheated , I don't mind paying the expensive prices , but I expect a really nice fresh taste , regardless of the portion size , if the taste is there I won't complain ... Nothing was there , no taste , no portion ,no value and no hygiene, I only tried the part of the cod the cashier didn't touch with his hand , I threw away the rest ,in fact I didn't finish it , I threw away the meal and went to get something else . Awful . I guess they don't care because its a tourist area and most of the customers won't be back anyway .
Went in on a Saturday night with the boys and the place was completely empty. The alarm bells should've been ringing. We sit down and see there's 12.5% service charge already added to the price in the menu. We think you know what, hey ho, we're already here. We finish a below average meal and there's a mysterious additional service charge on top of the already existing 12.5%. In conclusion, the advice I would give if you're thinking of eating here, is literally go anywhere else.
The food is not worth the price. Hygiene level is poor. We also received first 10 pounds less change than were supposed to. The prices on the board are take-away prices and the menu has higher prices if you eat in. I received a cold pie and when I asked to heat it more the owner took it from my plate with his hand after handling cash.
